Vehicle Detail

Relisted due to another terrible Ebayer that did not have the funds to pay, again! If you bid on the car wait until the end of the auction, in case another dumb guy does not have the money, you could get the second chance offer and if he retrieves his bid, you could be automatically the highest bidder. It just cost me money and time every time somebody does something ** like that. Glad this is out of the way, now the details; For auction a 1980 Porsche 924 TURBO classic sport car. This is a collective item that I was debating between restoring to original specs or making a Porsche 924 Turbo Carrera GT replica which is a model made for Le Mans and that never came to USA due to smog regulations. The previous owner was a PCA member and I'm a PCA member as well. This car has a SCCA D-Class wide body kit on it which make it stand out over the regular cheaper 924's typical narrow bodies. The original rear steel fenders are still under the side fiberglass flares, so the steel haven't been cut, which is good news for collectors willing to restore it to original spec's. The body needs to be re-painted due to the age of the paint. The engine has been rebuilt recently but it was done by previous owner, so it does not leak and it does not burn oil. The turbo has been upgraded for a bigger one (from K26 to K27) and the wastegate has a bigger spring, to boost more. I restored enough to pass the TX state inspection and to go to work every now and then (my work is 1 hour one way commute). It is in running conditions and you can drive it anywhere. I haven't done troubleshoot of the A/C yet and maybe it just needs Freon. The headlight washers, signal lights, headlight motors and the electric side mirrors work. I am including the OEM leather seats that are similar to the 911 Turbo of that year (worth of $1,000 in good condition). It is a low miles car and you could tell by looking the engine and some features. The car is pretty fast when the turbo starts boosting which surprised me coming from a 924, it is faster than a stock 924. It has a brand new carbon fiber shift knob and a new real leather shift boot with red stitching (included the original shift boot). The sunroof hardware works perfectly fine and it does not leak. The rear spoiler professionally installed is larger than the stock 924 Turbo one. This OEM spoiler is the one that the 924 Turbo Carrera was designed for, and eventually they included these on the 944 Turbo. This car has always been unappreciated for many years but it saved Porsche from bankruptcy and the history is pretty interesting for Porsche enthusiasts. I haven't gone thru the whole car but I know the at least it does not have any rust or corrosion in the body because this year they came with galvanized body parts. It looks also like it never suffered any accident because the chassis and panels are all straight in one piece and the doors open and close perfectly. The value of this car is skyrocketing and now the high retail value as per NADA.com is $14,100 and the average value $10,200. You could make easy money on this one if you flip it. Priced to sell Fast!! My loss is your gain. If you do not have the money, do not bid on it or your record is going to be damaged. The racing seats that you see in some pictures are not included in this auction. Somebody made an article of this rare car on the web address: germancarsforsaleblog.com/motorsports-monday-1980-porsche-924-turbo-holbert-racing/I found some pictures of the Holbert Racing bodykit and a real D-Production 924 race car (AKA D-Class) which this clone. This picture of page 97 was found in a book; "The Road. Sports and Racing Cars PORSCHE" by Dalton Watson Fine Books, published in 1993. With some nice wider wheels this car would look pretty special. I have the OEM European rear bumper and the OEM installation brackets, which is the one that the 924 Turbo Carrera originally came with and is the clone I was planning to do. It is NOT included in the auction but I could sell it to the winner if interested. It is hard to find and it costs a fortune. I found it in Europe and I paid a lot for the bumper and shipping...so price is negotiable but not cheap. The real 924 Turbo Carrera's have been sold in Europe for around $100,000 if you are lucky to find one ... NO RESERVE!! HAPPY BIDDING!!
