Vehicle Detail

For sale is my 1966 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 Tribute. I've owned this fastback for nearly four years and have enjoyed a lot of driving with it. We took a week long, 500-mile road trip in it to Monterey Car Week driving all over the Carmel/Monterey peninsula and up and down the CA Central Valley without even a hiccup. I also drive it regularly on weekends around town. It's been a great car and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. This fastback runs smooth, stops straight and has side exhaust that is throaty but comfortable for drives. The California family I bought the car from owned it for 33 years. Shortly after their purchase they did the GT350 tribute conversion. You'll notice from the pictures the conversion isn't 100% but they captured the essence of the era with this build. Thus this is not a stock mustang. The car was passed down from father to son whom I purchased it from. They told me this fastback has always been a CA car. As you can see from the pictures this fastback wears 37 years of patina paint from driving and living a car's life. Personally I think the paint looks fantastic and has wear marks in all the right places. This isn't a faux patina that has become popular with repaints. This fastback earned it's stripes (if you will) and the pictures do a good job of showing the paint and body condition. When I bought the car I checked the underside and didn't see any rust thru areas or surface rust that would compromise the chassis. Since my ownership it has lived in the garage. Panel gaps and alignment are consistent with '60's mustangs. The body is straight with only a (new because my bike fell over) quarter sized dent on the driver side rear quarter panel (pics taken before dent happened). The headlight surround clip on the driver side is broken (was when I bought it) thus this panel is slightly out of alignment. The hood sits proud of the quarter panels but can be aligned by someone with more talent (and hands) than me. The stance on this fastback is perfect. The car wears new 235/45 R17 Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 tires at all four corners and wrap new Coy Wheels C67 17x8 rims with spinners. Reverse eye leaf springs, 1" drop, 620 springs, and 7/8" sway bar complete the stance. This fastback has a 3.25:1 gear ratio and 8" rear end. The 289 V8 and 4-speed transmission work well together. The motor revs up nicely and the top loader has a nice notchy feel that confirms the gear shift. The clutch provides good feedback and the bite point is predicable. This is the same for gas and brakes as well which make rev-matching downshifts easy. All operations, including steering, are manual with no power assist. The interior shows well and is clean, minimal and in good order. New sound deadening, carpet, door cards, and shifter boot compliment the interior. The Kenwood stereo (w/ CD player) is hidden away in the glove box and controlled by a remote. It also has an auxiliary port to connect to your cell phone. The cigarette lighter port can be used to charge your phone with an adapter. The previous owner provided a list of upgrades and modifications that are summarized as follows: Rebuilt 289 V84 bbl 600 cfm Holley double pumper carburetor4-speed with Hurst shifterNew center force dual friction clutchMallory electric ignition130amp 3G alternator (dash amp meter doesn't function because of this alternator) 3-row radiatorTri-Y headersCustom fabricated mandrel bent exhaust, X-pipe w/ race bulletsNew Ford Racing lightweight billet aluminum flywheelUpgraded clutch linkage with heim jointsRebuilt pedal assembly with roller bearing conversionLarge Kelsey Hayes 4 piston front disc brakesRear drum brakes with e-brakeFull braided stainless steel flexible brake linesAdjustable brake bias (front/rear)New shocksNew fuel tank w/ sending unitNew front seats and seat foamNew door panels and arm restsNew sound deadeningNew carpetLED dash lightCustom Polk stereo system - 6.5" MM series in kick panel. 10" DP series sub in seal enclosure. Remote control.New carpeted trunk During my ownership I had a very reputable Mustang restoration/hotrod shop perform some work to help out aesthetics, safety, and improve the driving experience. This are as follows:New 235/45 R17 Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 tiresNew Coy Wheels, C67 - 17x8, 4 3/4" backspace, machined finishedNew tachElectrical radiator fan with automatic controllerNew air boxNew carburetor jets (size 65)New 3" Scott Drake lap beltsNew battery trayNew battery quick disconnect New power valveNew spark plugs, motor oil, brake fluid. Tuned and timedNew Hurst shifter bootNew head gaskets (locking bolts) and collector gaskets. Repainted headers. This fastback garners a lot of attention when we're driving. I've had people stop me and tell me don't ever paint it, 10-minute conversations and storytelling at the gas station, thumbs up, shout outs, etc. This is a no non-sense, very solid mustang fastback that feels and sounds very period correct. Title is clean and in hand (no liens). Car will come with two sets of keys and some extra parts like rear seat cover and car manual. Selling the fastback As-Is with no warranty, expressed or implied. Some items that need attention that I'm aware of are the passenger door needs to be re-keyed and amp gauge doesn't work because of the type of alternator. There are probably other items that I can't think of at the moment because this fastback isn't perfect (non are). The reserve price reflects the condition of the car. This mustang has character and presence that can only be achieved by being driven and enjoyed. The stance and patina look great and it looks fantastic on these wheels. I've driven it a lot and in return it has provided me a safe return without issue. This car doesn't travel anywhere without getting praise. On Dec-10-16 at 07:51:13 PST, seller added the following information: I've taken the liberty to put together a quick video of the fastback in motion. The video is posted to youtube and can also be viewed through our website www.motorethos.com/2016/12/a-spin-in-fastback.html Yes, I'm such a car fanatic that my friend and I have a hobby website dedicated to them. Enjoy! On Dec-10-16 at 07:54:13 PST, seller added the following information: Well... I tried to create a link but ebay didn't take it. Go to motorethos.com to find the video.
