Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE 1971 Ford Mustang Convertible 28,349 Original Mile Survivor! Original Bright Red Paint Original Red Interior Original White Top Original 302 V8 Original Miles 0-Rust! Please, no zero- or low-feedback bids without contacting me first; thank you. Tim 360-936-9257 Up for sale is an amazing 2-owner 1971 Ford Mustang Convertible with only 28,349 original miles, 100% verified by the second owner. The car has been off the road in dry storage for close to 20 years, and was purchased by the second owner in 1973. It is still wearing its’ original and beautiful Bright Red factory paint with no rust anywhere; this is a truly amazing find. Rarely if ever will you find an early Mustang this original and well preserved; especially a convertible... this one is your keeper. Original factory Ownercard and Owner’s Manual are included with the sale. The backstory: This wonderful Mustang was sold new in Southern California, where it spent the first two years of its’ life, racking up a total of just over 13,000 miles. The second owner purchased it in 1973 (have the small title dating back to this purchase), and proceeded to put only 15,000 additional fair-weather miles on it before parking it in his garage for the winter. As life moved on, children moved out, and keepsakes accumulated, the Mustang eventually became literally buried under boxes and bags; a fixture of the garage. It never again saw the light of day until I rescued it! Fortunately all the accumulation was light, the garage moisture- and rodent free, and the car drained of fuel for the winter prior to being parked. It took me over six hours to carefully move personal items to once again reveal the glory. I own a professional automotive restoration shop, and understand how to properly address all the potential issues associated with long-term storage. The car has been fully brought back to life, is a turnkey runner and driver, and remains a completely original unrestored survivor. The drivetrain is the born-with original, including never-opened numbers-matching 302 2v engine, floor-shifted 3-speed automatic transmission, and factory 9” rear end. The car features the very desirable factory Air Conditioning option, allowing comfortable hot-day cruising while remaining cool, with the top up or down. The power top works perfectly, original top boot cover is still present. The car also features power steering for an easy and effortless driving experience. The body has no rust whatsoever; it has never had any. The vehicle has been loved and garaged its’ entire life. The paint is the ORIGINAL Bright Red and is still in very shiny, beautiful condition as you can see; nothing hidden. The glass, trim, etc. is in excellent condition, as you can also see. The original unrestored Ford steel wheels still wear factory original hubcaps mounted with original-style narrow whitewall radial tires. The original spare wheel and tire are mounted in the trunk, and matches the style of the newer replacements. Other than some minor scratches and minimal dings, the original paint is in exceptionally nice condition. The darker, deeper red in the pictures is the actual color; some washed out a bit with my flash. No noticeable paint fade at all. The original white convertible top has a less than 2” minor tear; otherwise very nice. It also features the one-piece glass rear window. I have taken some as-found undercarriage pictures to show you the original paint, exhaust, and even the ground strap. Amazing. The factory Red vinyl interior upholstery is in bright, beautiful condition, as you can see. The darker, deeper red you'll see in some of the pictures is the actual color; no fading at all. Not a rip, tear, puncture, or cut anywhere. The steering wheel and the dash pad are original and are in nearly perfect condition. The interior also features the original red visors, door panels, carpet, factory black dash pad and carpet, etc. The dash itself is completely unmodified and in beautiful condition. You will find the original 1971 Mustang Owner’s Manual and dealer Ownercard inside the glove box as well. Perfect is a difficult word to choose, but if it’s not it’s very, very close. Options include the rare convertible package, standard Air Conditioning, power steering, bucket seats with floor shifter, power top, AM pushbutton radio, bright bumper and hood edge trim, full wheel covers, narrow whitewall tires, and body side moldings. Recent mechanical maintenance includes inspection and adjustment of the brake system, cleaning and maintenance of the fuel system, a new battery, a fresh tune-up including plugs, points, cap, rotor, and wires, a new air filter in the original housing, fresh coolant and radiator cap, and an oil change and new filter. She’s turnkey and ready to go. Don’t miss out on one of the last low-mile, original, unrestored early Mustang convertibles still out there, arguably in one of the best factory paint colors offered. As mentioned, I own a restoration shop, and appreciate a well-restored vehicle. That said, I appreciate an unrestored survivor even more... they are only original ONCE, and are by far the hardest to find and most valuable. I have included one picture of it in as-found condition, AFTER the family spent the previous day clearing everything from the topside of the car! Clear title in hand, matches VIN exactly for export, inspection, etc. Please be prepared to remit payment in full within 3 days of auctions end via deposit into my Bank of America account, or bank wire transfer. While every effort is being made to describe the vehicle as precisely as possible, it is in fact a 45-year-old classic, and therefore being sold exactly as-is, without warranty or guarantee expressed, written, or implied. Shipping is the full responsibility of the buyer; I can assist in finding you an affordable carrier, and will make the vehicle and myself available for pick-up and loading on short notice; I prefer a 48-hour head’s-up. Please feel free to call me directly at 360-936-9257 with any questions you may have. ~Tim
