Vehicle Detail
In the early 90's, my fathered owned one of these. Twenty years later, I happened upon this one after ending my time with the military, and figured the nostalgia would be worth it. I was not disappointed. From the moment I sat down, it felt as though I had gone back in time. Everything from the feel to the smell brought back great memories. No matter where I would go, someone would have to stop and say something. I kid you not. Whether I would be getting gas or groceries, someone would at least come up to me to tell me "nice truck...really nice truck." The problem is, like with most older vehicles, I did not and still do not have the time to give this truck the work it requires to run like it did in the 90's. While there are no major issues, the truck has spent the majority of the year just sitting outside. With the increased rainfall we had, I am afraid the truck will rust up if I keep her there much longer. Work That Has Been Done: -Lift Kit Added (not by me) -Radio Replaced with After Market CD Player (not by me) -U-Joint Replaced -Fuel Leak Repaired Known Issues: -Passenger Window Has Difficulty Going Up -Passenger Lock Does not Engage Using Power Lock Button -Front Fan Cover Is Not Installed Due To Lift Kit (I still have it) -I am told this is the reason why the A/C only works occasionally -Left Turn Light On Dash Remains On -Grinding Sound Going Into Fourth Gear -Grinding Sound When Turning Sometimes -Some Cosmetic Damage Due to Aging -Most everything on the vehicle appears to be original except the hood and tires -Brake Rotor Wear -Had someone pull out in front of me recently. Truck will stop (as good as trucks stop). -Tachometer sometimes does not work As expected with a vehicle from the late 80's/early 90's, some work will need to be put in. There is nothing preventing this vehicle from running like new. If I had time I would do all of the work myself, but as a college student I have neither that nor the finances to continue paying insurance for a vehicle that mostly sits outside. I had been asked if this truck would pass state inspections. I do not know. Oklahoma does not currently have inspections, and I do not know the standards of each state. The check engine light is not lit. The biggest concern most people have is rust, especially since I bought this truck in Missouri and drove it to Oklahoma (255+ miles in one trip) where it currently resides. I have checked under several rubber parts and have only found signs of rusting on the after market assisted step. So I have not found any rust on the main body or frame of the truck. I still have the original cover for the top (and no, I am not selling it separately). If you have any questions, please let me know.On Oct-21-16 at 20:29:23 PDT, seller added the following information: I replaced the battery today, and the new one is under warranty from Auto Zone (which is tied to my phone number and will be passed on to whomever wins the auction). The 4 wheel drive seems to work. Because of the mild winter, I did not get a chance to really play with it. I had refrained from any off-roading (as was my original intent) until I was able to fully go through every bit of the truck and check or replace anything that could prevent a vehicle with so many years from keeping me safe off the roads. This did not happen, as I do not have time or resources to devote to the proper maintenance of an older vehicle. Hence my willingness to sell what is essentially the only truck I would buy if I ever become rich and free enough to do so.
