Vehicle Detail

For sale is my 1968 Porsche 912/6 Rally Monte Carlo Tribute, outlaw car. This car was my personal car which I tinkered with for the last 2 years or so. I bought the car as a "roller" (no engine) and I built it in my garage. There were thousands and thousands spent on this build and for those who know, can appreciate the things I did to it. I have a semi complete build thread that can be found here: my 68 hotrod project. Last month I put it on BAT (Bring a Trailer) to see what kind of response I would get. Although it didn't meet my reserve, I did learn a lot about the market and how many people liked what I did to the car. Details here: 1968 Porsche 912/6 Coupe | Bring a Trailer. As for the car itself I can try and summarize the built but I have way too much to list so here goes... 1968 Porsche 912 body. Original color is Light Ivory (sweet color!). It was a track car according to the previous owner. He decided to paint it tangerine which is how I got it. The paint job is Ok but not going to win any concourse or awards. I say it's a solid 10 footer but according to people who see it in person say it's 5. Personally, I'd paint it to the original color later and enjoy the rally tribute look! The interior was refinished. Seats have new covers, door panels refurbished along with a complete RS lightweight carpet installation. A 4 point roll bar was installed along with a Momo Prototipo steering wheel. Reproduction Cibie rally lights, RennLine pedals and kick panels added to complete the race inspired finish. Dash is original and not in bad shape. All gauges work except for the clock. I added a custom shifter extension to the short shift kit. Shifts pretty smooth. The suspension was redone adding new Bilstein HD's all the way around. The car was corner balanced at a local Porsche raceshop and aligned after it was lowered. The brakes were redone less than 200 miles ago. This included new pads and rotors and refreshed calipers. I was going to upgrade the master cylinder and brake lines to get rid of the soft pedal feel. It;s 100% drivable I just prefer a rock hard pedal. It's got 100mm race studs more for aesthetics. Updated H4's which need a relay added, I just never got around to it. The transmission is a 4 speed which is good for track and around town. I planned to get a 5 speed but again, no real issues so I never pulled the trigger on doing it. The motor is out of a 76 911. It's a 2.7 liter motor with S cams, re-curved distributor by Barry Gershon of IAE, 40 IDA3C Webers reworked by Biekers Performance, PMO manifolds opened up by Olies Performance to 36mm blended, PMO fuel bars, PMO fuel regulators (no return line), heads were reworked by Brumos (which I learned from the previous owner), Danske headers, MSD ignition with rev limiter, Carrera tensioners, Turbo valve covers, trick velocity stack/air filters, lightened fan strap (add's 5 hp!), Sport exhaust, Adjustable spring plates from a late model Carrera, I had the car checked out for a couple guys who were interested in buying it. No leak down or compression tests but the motor runs like a top according to the owner of the shop. I have thousands in receipts for the work and parts. My only complaint on the car is the brakes are too soft for my liking and the motor leaks a bit of oil. I had the shop give me an estimate and confirm the issues and it's all seal related. This is very common on old Porsches (all German cars) and is nothing to worry about other than your garage floor. It doesn't burn oil or need anything more than a quart over a period of a year to give you an idea of how much it leaks. My mechanic (myself included) feels this is something I can address later down the road when I pull the motor to replace the clutch or decide to rebuild the motor. The labor to pull the motor is more than the seals themselves so if you've dropped a motor before this is a piece of cake to fix. Livery consists of high quality decals and can be removed to change the look. If you choose Buy it Now I will include both the deep six Fuchs with Dunlop's (~2k miles on the tires) and the steelies pictured in the pics. Otherwise it will be sold with the steelies. Here's a video of me taking on the track for a kids charity event in Sonoma Speedway: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FVKmnm58Tk
