In fact, Car and Driver Magazine said “With so many changes, they could have called it the 998.” Direct fuel injection, more horsepower, updated electronics, standard bi-xenon headlights, etc. Porsche enhanced the 997 with everything it needed, without taking away the driver “feel” that some think is missing in the newer 991. This California 911 has been meticulously maintained since new, and the car has not been exposed to the salt-filled roads and inclement whether of the northern states. Not only has the Porsche maintenance manual been stamped each time the car has been in for service (which is rare, even for Porsche owners), but the 40K service, including new spark plugs, has been completed as well. The front Bridgestones have approximately 60-70% remaining tread, and the rears are brand new. Look closely and you’ll see the upgraded black-chrome finished quad exhaust tips (which make it look like an “S” from the rear). These are attached to a $2,500 Fabspeed touring exhaust, which gives the car just a bit more muscle and tone from the naturally-aspirated flat-six. There is no drone, and the exhaust is no louder than a Porsche factory Sport exhaust. The sound is absolute German perfection, and the upgraded BOSE surround sound system will seldom be on. Both factory keys and the original books/manuals will be included at the time of sale.
