Vehicle Detail

For your consideration is a top shelf 1976 R90/6 BMW airhead custom. Has the retro look with modern upgrades for reliability and performance. By swapping out the seat/tail and a readjustment of the clip-ons you can go from Café to classic cruiser city bike and have the best of both worlds. This 1976 R90/6 is in superb condition and a really head turner, but unlike many customs which are all show and no go, this bike handles as good as it looks. Everything was gone through and either cleaned, repaired or replaced as needed, or upgraded to modernize. The majority of the focus was on handling performance, I cannot stand bikes which can’t get around a corner, the rest was for reliability. This bike truly handles, while there is no getting away from the fact that it is a 40 year old design, the upgraded suspension really narrows the gap to that of a modern bike (my other bike is a speed triple, so I have a good reference point). It was restored about year and half ago to mostly stock, and then I finished it the way you seen over this winter and spring. There are about 1200 miles on it since I finished it. This bike is truly impressive and needs to be seen to be appreciated, with that, I’ll let the specs and pictures speak for the rest: Full frame off restoration, with the frame powered coated gloss black Stunning gold flake paint with cleared over double pinstripes on tank and tail. Airbush work on the tail is first rate Pulled jugs and cleared – compression was great and rings cylinders looked perfect so was reassembled. Ditto for transmission. New clutch disc was put in as preventative maintenance. Silicone gaskets and does not leak (ok it sweats a little oil, what air head doesn’t, but it doesn’t hit to floor, even after sitting all winter) Dyna III electronic ignition to replace points Dual plugged with dual Dyna Coils Motorrad Elektrik 33 amp charging system and diode board to replace the sketchy factory unit Boxter werks frame and swing arm braces welded in (looks factory with perfect welds) really gets rid of the chassis flex under cornering. Complete rewire with motogadget M-unit controller. This is not a hack wiring job, and the M-unit is great to use and work with. GRXR 750 USD forks with new fluids Cognitomoto dropped triple clamps with new taper roller bearings Yamaha R1 mono block brake calipers with GSXR 750 discs and new goodridge stainless lines on rebuilt master cylinder and a new cable New clutch and throttle cables Ceramic coated Luftmeister 2 into 1 exhaust – super rare Custom gauges with digital tach and GPS speedometer Rebuilt Bing carbs with billet choke pulls New rear wheel bearings Lubed all splines Cognitomoto front wheel for GSXR conversion Ohlins rear piggy back shocks Ohlins steering damper (not really needed, but kept it inplace as I tuned the suspension, the bike is very stable as set up) Both Café tail and a OEM police seat with under seat tool tray for day to day riding includeTruck light LED headlight with billet brackets – best LED headlight on the market Biltwell billet LED tail lightMotogadget LED bar end turn signals Apex fully adjustable clip ons Eagle eye LED turn and brake lights integrated into lisecne plate bolts Custom dynamics lighted billet license plate frame R100 adjustable shift linkage New foot peg rubbers New grips New brake/clutch levers and handle bar switches (all OEM BMW)Rebuilt fuel petcocks New fuel lines Boxermetal billet battery relocation kit New drive shaft bellows and ignition seals New (I mean last week) Conti Attack classic tire – these are amazing and really improved the handling. These are the only radials made for classic bikes. As you can see, the bike is well sorted and in excellent overall condition and has a clean MN title. It is however used, and has the usual small scuffs and scrapes on the frame, wheels, etc. This biggest issue is the small scratch (see pic) in the Tank. I have sealed it with clear, but it is there. Overall, I would rate it a strong 9/10 for condition, and a 10 for reliability. If you are interested, we can negotiate in additional parts for the bike that I have, see the list below: The following parts ARE NOT INCLUDED in the sale of the bike, but could be purchased for a good deal along with the bike Complete, fully restored R90S front end: forks, billet triple, front wheel, duel calipers and discs with ss lines, bearings, fork braces, spoked wheel, terozzi clip ons, and the fender – this would fetch over $1200 on EBAY, even more if you parted it out. Krauser side and top racks BMW hard side bags with chrome brackets (I used them on occasion for weekend trips) Spare grips Raask rear sets – expensive pieces Chrome fixed shift lever (looks much cleaner than adjustable currently on the bike) Stock battery mount Stock cast aluminum air box with hardware and carb tubes Dual choke cables and levers 2 up corbin(?) touring saddle – no rips and includes metal surround, nice shape black with non-matching pinstripes. Just drops in if you want to do a quick tour OEM R90 seat with grab rail, needs to be recovered Add it all up and you couldn’t sources even they parts, much less get a bike as well sorted and practical while still looking the business for what I am asking. $500 down payment with PayPal, balance with either a wire transfer or bank check prior to pick up (cash in person is always best). While I will assist with a pick up for shipment, you must arrange and pay for it.
