Vehicle Detail

1947 PONTIAC TORPEDO 6 SPORT COUPE This is a rust-free '47 business coupe. This car never had a back seat, and was designed for traveling salesmen. There is also no divider between the front area and the trunk. There is factory shelving in that area. This is a cool old car that looks completely original for the most part. The flathead six runs good and doesn't smoke. This car would make a great rat rod, kustom, street rod, led sled, or original restoration. I had thought about making it a country club woody clone. I don't know if pontiac offered the country club option, but the chevies are really cool and one is pictured below. I've owned many old cars and it is near impossible to find a project this old with no rust. The car has a clear title. Below are all the details on this pontiac. I have many more pics I can send. Also, I should have a video of it running. Let me know if you want to do something early on it. I have good shipping contacts also and can help with that process. Also, I included pictures of other cool coupes below. Thank you. MECHANICAL This car has the 239 cubic inch flathead six. The motor runs nice and doesn't smoke, ticks, knock, or have any noticeable leaks. I ran it for quite awhile and it runs cool. This has the three speed manual on the tree. The clutch does work, but engages a little slow into first. It seems like maybe the clutch lever needs lubed or? once it engages, it seems to work fine and not slip. I'm not sure but I've driven it and tried all the gears. The brakes don't work. The car is running off the original tank and it does not appear rusty. This car does need new wiring. The ignition is just on a toggle switch now to run it, and this has the floor engaged starter. I'm sure the car needs a full tune-up and brakes, probably exhaust too but it's not overly loud. I see no major mechanical work that it will need besides possibly a clutch. The flywheel could have surface rust also that needs to be worked off with a little driving. Not sure. BODY The body is rust free. The floors, doors, quarters, fenders, hood, trunklid, trunkpan, rockers, frame, firewall, cowl, etc. have no rust-through. No bubbling, no pinholes even that I could find anywhere. No bondo or filler that I can see. The paint looks original. Some dents to fix but nothing too bad. The hood is just sitting on it and will be secured for transportation. One of the hinges was damaged, so I took them off and they are included. Rear window is included with a spare also. Rear side windows are included. It may need door glass replaced because I believe at least one is broken. These are flat and easy to get replaced. Windshields are actually in good shape and usable. All interior window mouldings are included. Some other parts included too and the spare tire rim. I think the original jack may be in there. Overall the body is in great shape for an original 1947 unrestored project. You could drive it as is with the cool patina, or it's a good one to start with to repaint. INTERIOR The interior needs full restoration. It is original, and appears complete. It will need new upholstery throughout. The dash area is in pretty good shape. There is a really cool indian head thing on the glovebox door. I'm not sure what it is, but maybe an interior light. This car does have the radio, which I read is optional. OVERALL This is a very solid car that will be an easy restoration. Thanks and happy bidding. Pics of others below.
