Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my low-mileage (68k) 1993 Toyota MR Turbo. I love Japanese Bubble Era sports cars and wanted a nice MR2 Turbo for a while. Found this one locally about two years ago and absolutely had to have it as it's a 93 with the bigger OEM wheels, bigger brakes and allround improved car, but after two years I found I didn't really fall in love with it like I expected to and I have actually driven it three times this year. So, it's now in search of a loving new owner. Clear and clean NV title in hand. This is a genuine T-Top Turbo, not a swap. The low mileage appears to be due to the car being in storage for approximately a decade before I bought it from the second owner in 2014. I say "appears to be" because I haven't got any paperwork for it, however an acquaintance of mine actually confirmed that he repeatedly maintained the car while it was in storage. The car is almost completely stock. I had Koni Sport dampers fitted with new TRD springs as the original dampers were leaking (original springs come with the car), plus I had a Moroso extended oil pan fitted as I'm paranoid about oil temperatures here in the desert and had delusions of occasionally autocrossing the car (yes, OEM oil pan comes with the car). I also fitted a 1999 JDM Momo MR2 10th anniversary shift knob as it had a horrible aftermarket shift knob on it when I got the car, plus an aftermarket radio with proper adapters (no cut loom here) as the tape deck of the OEM tape/radio/CD player combo wasn't working. You might have guessed that the original radio combo also comes with the car... Maintenance-wise, this is what I remember having done: Replaced timing belt, tensioners and water pump shortly after I got the car with 62k milesHad said replacement "100% OEM fit" water pump replaced with the correct OEM water pump by the local Toyota dealerReplaced the worn suspension downlinks with the two'r'us items for improve longevityHad the distributor replaced with a new OEM one at the local Toyota dealer as the original was leaking due to a cracked housing. As mentioned, it's got Koni Yellows with TRD springs fitted because the OEM shocks were leaking and I didn't like the 4x4 stanceI did fit an aftermarket HKS boost gauge as the OEM idiot gauge just didn't do it for me. It's fitted in lieu of the ash tray, but of course the ashtray comes with the car also. The good: Almost completely stock with what looks like original paint all aroundDrives fine, still has the OEM airbox, downpipe and exhaustA/C, power locks, power windows all workI've always run it at stock boost only and have seen no evidence of any modifications that would suggest a boost controller or FCD were ever fitted to the carOriginal manuals are still in the original Carson City Toyota folderComes with the BGB (aka "Big Green Book", the official Toyota workshop manualThe not so great: It's got the typical "High Desert paint fade" - worst area is the top of the front bumper (see photo).Small dent on the front driver's side wing (see photo)The previous owner painted the valve cover light blue. Oh my.The float of the oil level sensor is damaged and tends to trigger the oil level warning light occasionally. I have sourced a good used oil level sender that comes with the carSomebody (most likely the original owner) really wanted the seats to match the exterior color so the seats have been dyed with gray leather dye instead of being black as they're supposed to be. Some of the dye is worn so you can see that the seats are the original black seats. The small print: There is a sensible reserve on the car and no, I'm not going to sell it to you for $2500. $500 non-refundable deposit via Paypal within 48 hours of the end of the auction unless you collect it within 48h. Pickup within 7 days unless we have made different arrangements beforehand. If you want to do a fly'n'drive I'll happily pick you up at the airport in Reno, NV. Happy to work with your shipper if you want to get the car shipped, but I will not release the car and title until I have received full and cleared payment. Not interested in trades unless you happen to have a genuine AE86 GTS in similar condition. On Jul-08-16 at 07:49:36 PDT, seller added the following information: Answers to a few common questions: The VIN stickers are present on both front fenders, the frunk lid, doors and rear trunk lidI have not found any evidence of the car having had any bodywork or paint. I'm usually pretty good at picking out repainted sections, and the way the sun affects paint out here shows up most repainted sections within a few years as they fade differently. The T-top seals appear to be in decent condition. I took it to the car wash on Sunday (7/3) before taking the photos and I didn't notice any leaks. Wasn't the first time I took it through the car wash either and I don't remember it ever leaking noticeably. The other two areas affected by the paint fade are the top of the rear bumper (loss of gloss, no paint fade itself) and some fade marks on top of the rear spoiler that have proved to be impossible to photograph. The rest of the paint is in good condition that's consistent with a factory paint job that's 23 years old.
