Vehicle Detail

up for sale is a Barn find Volvo 142. The car was found with the owners manual, maintenance record book and previous registration from 2000 in the glovebox (no title) From the maintenance books it was purchased in the fall of 1973 from Peninsula European in Palo Alto, California. The car has a rare factory optioned sunroof and A/C. Car is an automatic trans, the shifter engages through all the gears, the brakes are not frozen and the car rolls freely Car was last on the road in 2001, it will need work to get back to being roadworthy, but it is all there. The body is not hiding anything, the paint is faded but could be buffed out. there are spots of surface rust throughtout the car but there is no rot whatsoever floors, trunk and spare tire holders have are solid. rockers, inner wheel wells are all straight with slight surface rust again no holes or actual rot. car is straight the only damage is the front valance is bent slightly on the driverside Interior is very clean, driver seat has a small tear, the rear seat is sun faded and the dash has a couple cracks, doors all shut solid, windows crank down and rear butterfly window pop out (driverside crank know is missing) door panels have aftermarket stereo speakers but the car has no radio or even an antenna. the gas cap was replaced with a locking cap ( do not have the original) all tires hold air and look to be fairly new, no dry rot. wheels look like the were painted, stainless caps are not perfect but driver quality. headlights and taillights work, mileage seems to be correct on the cluster, horn does not work. all the glass is in good shape , no cracks or scratches. the sunroof works and does not leak Gas tank was flushed out and fuel pump was cleaned, tested all the injectors to see if they were working, I replaced the fuel pump relay and got the car running the car does run, does not smoke. but it will instantly rev up to a high rpm at idle. I am not sure if this is due to a vacuum leak, if it is sucking air at the injectors since the o rings are stiff, or the actual computer / air meter I did some research and found that these early fuel injections are not that reliable regardless, I would suggest a carb conversion would be the easiest solution. to someone who knows early Volvos it shouldn't be that hard to get going and get it back on the road, would like to see it go to a good home. or it would be good for someone who wants to make a race car this would be a solid start the car was only found with a previous registration and will be sold as is, so please research your states requirements. any other questions or specific pictures please feel free to ask, tried to best describe the car to the best of my knowledge thanks! sold as is where is no warranties
