Vehicle Detail
*NO RESERVE AUCTION* (Please look at all the full size photos posted in the description) Rare 1970's "Yosemite Sam" Radoff Triumph Bonneville chopper "CHECKMATE". "Yosemite Sam" is a well respected custom motorcycle and car builder / painter and has created some amazing custom vehicles over the years (Google to see some of Sam's works of art) This over the top wild chopper was in the July 1973 issue of Street Chopper magazine. It also toured the show circuit in 1973 and won many awards. This was one of "Yosemite Sam's" first bike builds and features extensive metal work and molding. It also was never used! It was strictly a show piece. This is evident by the fact that the original tires have no wear and the rear tire still shows the manufacturers ink marks on the center tread! (See photos) This bike was originally painted in red and orange tones for the 1973 show circuit but was quickly repainted blue only a year or so after it was originally built. It never was fully assembled after that and layed dormant in a Michigan living room... It came out of storage in 2014. All of the components that were used were the best of the best. Rare Hallcraft hubs and disk brakes on both ends. 18" Akront high shouldered front rim and very rare 16" "Super Akront" rear. Beautiful one-off springer front end was built by "The Work Shop" in Detriot and rear hardtail is an AEE unit. The paint has chips and scratches and the chrome has some pitted and pealing spots, but overall it still shines and looks amazing! The heavily modified Sportster gas tank is also removable with four nuts. (*Pease note that some of the photos are older than others and that there is a large chip in the paint near the seat on the right hand side of the bike. This chip is not visible on the photos that were taken in the sun as the chip happened after those photos were taken...) This rolling chassis is a perfect candidate to drop in your running 650 or 750 Triumph engine (or just use as a static display art piece). Frame will except all 1963 - 1983 unit construction 650 / 750 Triumph engines. Bike also comes with a few loose components that were original to the build such as one extended foot peg bracket (with custom machined "crown" foot peg), extended brake and shifter pedals, and passenger foot pegs. Comes with a clear Michgan title but the serial numbers on the frame are not visible because of the custom molding. Please email me with any questions.
