Vehicle Detail
Here is a 1961 Ford Econoline Falcon "Station Bus" Van in close to original, unmolested condition. Picked up the van recently with the intentions of turning it into a daily driver but some personal circumstances have changed. Overall the van is solid and has great patina. There are a few minor dents/dings and imperfections present as you would expect with a 55 year old vehicle. The entire van floor has been sprayed with black bed liner for durability. The only problem areas I have found are very small spots about the size of a half dollar a few inches under the door hinges. In my opinion they appear to have been somewhat amateur repairs but unless closely inspecting these spots are not noticeable as they have been sealed. The underside of the van is solid except for the typical areas where the dirt and water kick up. The rear of the wheel wells are a bit rough but certainly not something really seen or affecting the drive ability of the van. The dash is not cut, drilled or altered in any way! The van sits on the factory 13in wheels and it appears the previous owner removed one leaf out of the front leaf springs for a slightly lower front end stance. The van is 3-speed and powered by a 144ci straight six motor which I believe to be the original. The odometer reads 59,848 however its unknown if it’s turned over or not. The van needs a carburetor rebuild and a choke cable installed to be running optimally. Rock Auto has the correct model single barrel reman carburetor for $152.99 or you can buy the rebuild kit for less than $25. I do have a used choke cable in excellent working condition I will include in the sale. The van currently starts and runs by manually adjusting the carburetor. Once the carburetor is replaced or rebuilt and choke cable installed you should be back in business. I have a video of it running however eBay no longer allows links to be listed and I don't think I can post a video here. I will be more than happy to iMessage it to anyone with an iPhone who may be interested. I believe the file may be too large for email. Prior to the end of the sale, a brand new high performance 3-row aluminum radiator and hoses will be installed for more efficient cooling. This in not pictured as it has yet to be installed. The e-brake/parking brake handle and front half of cable is missing as this was how I purchased it. I have not test the battery however it is older. Within the last few months the front seats have been re-upholstered black. The Ford factory bench seats are still in the van and are beige color. Both are in excellent condition given they are 55 years old! There are a few very, very small stains/tears however nothing terrible. The mid-row bench seat folds at the end for easier entry to the rear. I have been told this was only put in one, maybe two model year Econoline vans. It’s very rare to find seats in this condition let alone a complete, original set. All doors open and close without issue. The side cargo doors will need interior door handles. For some reason they were never there. All four square side windows pop out and close securely. The radio and heater are both present however I never connected them. The previous seller installed a heavy duty aftermarket fuel tank which is filled through the rear floor of the van. I have attached a few photos of this. New clutch, fuel line, brake lines and starter solenoid have been installed within the last few months. With a little love this van will be a great patina cruiser or daily driver. If I kept the van the plan was to drop a clear coat over the patina and install a set of fat whitewalls for the old school look. I believe there were only about 8,500 of this particular model produced. Most of these vans have been made into tin cans over the years or are complete rot boxes. Overall this van is in better condition than most but will need a little attention to be perfect. I am not a professional mechanic but have described the van to the best of my ability. Please see the photos included in the listing and you be the judge. I would encourage anyone within driving distance to come by and take a look at it. I will not ship the van however will assist in the shipment process in any way possible. The van is located in Emmaus, PA 18049. Emmaus is about an hour north of Philadelphia and an hour south of New York City. It is minutes from the New Jersey state line as well as I-78, Route 22 & 309. If shipping the van, pickup would be convenient for the carrier. If you have any questions please be sure to ask prior to bidding. Van has clear VIN matching Pennsylvania title. The van is being sold as-is with no warranty or guarantees. Buyer must pay cash in full within 7 days of auction end. NO PayPal, checks etc! $0.99 starting bid! Low reserve price!
