Vehicle Detail
1998 RM250 with 265cc Big bore kit I have owned this bike since 2007, and have rode it on and off over the years (maybe 10 times) and it has been a great bike. I build a lot of bikes but just do not have time to ride as much as I'd like to. This bike has had the following work done: - 265cc big bore motor build (CDR)- Powervalve rebuild in 2015 (Millinium)- CDR suspension (180lbs rider)- Hinson clutch (clutch can be pulled with 1 finger, super light pull extremely accurate feel)- FMF gold series pipe (no rust worries)- Answer carbon fiber silencer (has 1 ride on it)- Tag upper triple clamp- Fat bars-Talon hubs/gold Excel rims- After market fork caps (quick air release)- Rear tire has one ride on it- Gold chain- 270mm oversized front brake-Graphics kit/seat cover Maintenance. CDR had rebuilt the bike (motor & suspension) prior to my purchasing it (I called them and validated this). Last year I took the top end off to inspect it along with main bearing and all where within spec. What was really crazy is that the piston showed little to no wear (only had a light coloring on the top of the piston, so it was basically just a darker shade of silver). I did send the top end to Millinium and they inpsected it and cleaned the powervalve (that's the "FAT 039" stamped on the cylinder in the photo (Millinium's serial #). Here's why the bike has been so healthy, along with good jetting, you have to ride it up a gear and simply slip the clutch (that's the fast away around a track). You can try and wring its neck but it will beat your arms to jelly with the hit. Therefore, you are never really into the motor riding it up a gear, but you are hauling A$$ around the track. Essentially you don't have to work as hard and still go just as fast. I had owned a newer alloy framed YZ before I got this bike and sold it. The YZ certaintly handed better (its newer), but the big bore was way more fun and also I am old school (a vet) and I like the action and look of the 49mm conventional fork over the USD fork (the conventional fork works better outdoors where most people ride). I am selling because I am moving and this is the last of my bikes I am selling, this bike will put a smile on your face, I promise. This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION, so good luck!
