Vehicle Detail

1983 Honda CR250R Bike is ready to go as I did a motor out frame up restoration. The lower end was rebuilt to include the rod (replaced with a Hot Rods). The cylinder was purchased from Steve Benolkin (Tommy Benolkin brother) and he ported it. The carb is new 38mm Mikuni TMX (vintage legal) with a billet intake/Boyesen reeds. The pipe is DG, which came with this bike when I got it back in 2007 (it was new at the time) and not used by me. The silencer was a Answer Racing woods silencer that I cut, removed the woods core, cut it down, installed a shorter core and then used FMF silencer packing.. The suspension is set up for 180-190lbs rider. The shift lever is aftermarket foldable, new gold DID chain, the bars are Pro Tamper, Scott grips and Moose levers. The main frame is powdercoated, however the subframe was hand painted because when I sent the frame out for powercoating they were suppose to fix a couple of small holes in the subframe (didn't happen). That subframe was usable but after they powercoated it, it was an eyesore for me so I replaced it and painted the one on the bike with VMX orange paint (perfect match). The front fender & tank are OEM & the rest of the plastic is aftermarket (not the good VMX stuff as this was built to be a race bike, not a show bike). I rebuilt the water pump using new parts from Mr. Motorcycle Microfiche and I use Water Wetter with distilled water (not radiator fluid). The bike runs like 20 degrees cooler and this stuff is not corrosive like radiator fluid is on magnesium cases. Also, and very typical of these bikes, the oil drain plug was stripped, however I have retread it and it does not leak. The cases have also been repaired (in front of the countershaft sprocket), this too was very typical of these bikes (they would throw a chain and put a hole in the cases just in front of the countershaft sprocket). Again, it was repaired it there is no issues. Also, in the photos the exhaust springs are not on the front of the pipe but they will be upon sale (I had another pipe on this bike I had to remove and it was getting late so I had to get some photos before it got dark, but I have the springs and will install them). Here's the story behind this bike, I built it to be my back up race bike (I have another 83 CR250), however with work & my second job the best I could do was find time to tinker in my basement here and there (little to no riding). I have ridden this bike in a field for jetting purposes and that's it. I consider this bike a race bike and not a garage queen though it is pretty clean. I am moving so my loss is someones gain. This is a NO RESERVE auction so the bike will sell. Shipping is at the winners expense or you can pick up locally in northern, VA, good luck.
