Jeremy Clarkson – BBC Top Gear You are looking at one of the last built, and most well-optioned, Atom 2s built by Brammo in Oregon. Initially rated at 300 hp, this is the same model Atom owned and driven by Jay Leno, which utilizes the 2.0L supercharged GM Ecotec engine. The Ecotec engines were prone to heat soak, which reduced the power as the operating temps increased. The previous owner solved that problem by making numerous modifications. Cooling and intercooler capacities were increased, and a larger supercharger was installed as well. Then, the ECU was recalibrated for throttle response and output, and new gauges were installed in a custom designed panel to monitor everything. Now, the car makes 320 hp+ and is an absolute rocket ship to drive. In addition, multiple suspension and hardware upgrades were made to extract even more handling and performance from an already lightning fast car. But perhaps the best part of this Atom, in addition to the amazing, and expensive, padded adjustable race seats (that you can no longer order) is the extensive use of carbon fiber. In my seven years of dealing with Ariel Atoms, I have never seen its equal. Nearly every body panel on this Atom is outfitted with optional carbon fiber, including the entire race tub, nose, engine lid, headlight assemblies, and more. As a matter of fact, you can’t even order this much carbon fiber on a brand new Atom 3S, no matter how many boxes you check on the option sheet! This car looks absolutely spectacular in person and cost more than $120,000 to build. Now, with only 2,600 miles, you can purchase this Atom for nearly half of what it cost new, and own one of the most spectacular Atoms available on the market today!
