Vehicle Detail

I am offering my 1988 Chevrolet Corvette for sale. I have just purchased a Packard and need the space and the funds to work on the Packard. I purchased the Corvette from Streetside Classics in Charlotte, NC 2 years ago with only 33,929 miles. My son and I flew to Charlotte and drove the car home on the original Goodyear tires. Streetside Classics described the car as follows: In 1988, the Corvette was still the king of American performance, and in roadster form it was the best example of General Motors engineering might. Full of technology and with performance that could humble the best Europe had to offer, it is part of the foundation that gave us today's amazing C6. This excellent example hailed from Nevada. You could be forgiven for thinking that all early C4 Corvettes were red, but yes, it's true, there were other colors available. Anonymously called Silver Metallic the finish is nonetheless a Corvette tradition as much as red might be, and with only 385 painted that color in 1988, you're not likely to see another one. It's all original, too, and still looks awesome. There are a few signs of use here and there, as you'd expect from a car built to be enjoyed, but it's pretty obvious that this one has always ben someone's fair-weather flyer and not a daily driver (although it's certainly capable). If you like your Corvettes perfectly imperfect, this is an ideal example, especially for preservation class judging. The gray leather interior is as futuristic as 1988 could make it, with digital gauges, a trip computer and enough buttons to command the space shuttle. To be honest, the gray interior is fairly rare, particularly with the silver bodywork, making this a very low production convertible. Both seats are power adjustable and every bit as comfortable as they look once you master the unique step-in procedure the C4 requires. A/C, a powerful Bose stereo, power windows and locks, as well as a tilt wheel were all part of the package, making the Corvette a true grand touring car. Even the original black canvas top, which stow invisibly under the flush-fitting decklid, shows minimal wear with a rear window in excellent condition. You can still see the entire listing and pictures at Streetside Classics; Charlotte, NC under past sales. I immediately installed B.F.Goodrich G-Force Sport Comp 2 tires and have put just over 10,000 miles on the car since I bought it. I was initially impressed with how original the car was and still is. I have replaced the inner door panels and outer door glass seals. The seats and convertible are still the original. The left bolster on driver's seat has been repaired. I have just recently had the lumbar bladders replaced on both seats. I like everything work. I have replaced the bulbs in the dash with the cooler bulbs and there was no burnt marks on the panel given the low number of miles. I have had the Bose radio/cassette play rebuilt. As a precaution I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel injectors, fuel pressure diaphragm and spark plugs (I will include the original injectors with sale). I didn't want to take a trip and have a problem. The rubber was gone from the outer window seal on the driver's door and the window is scratched at the bottom as a result. There is some cracking just behind the door on the driver's side but other than a few small chips, shows very well. I have also heard horror stories about hood release cables breaking so I have replaced the cables and hood release lever. The car runs and drives great and I love the power steering. The window sticker shows the car sold for $38,786.00. All the items displayed on the back of the car are included with the sale including the Introduction cassette for the Corvette. The Corvette book shown was published in 1987 and includes the new 1988 models. This is a great Corvette but as I near retirement (now 63) I want to focus on the Packard I have just purchased. Please ask any questions you may have.
