Vehicle Detail
For Sale: One 1989 Jeep Cherokee Limited 4.0L 4WD with 109,500 miles. This 2-owner vehicle is originally from Florida and has been in Chicago for the past 3 years. Gray in color with gray leather interior, it features power doors/locks, seats, ABS, working a/c, automatic transmission, factory sunroof, 1 year old 30x9.5x15 Firestone Destination a/t tires and full size spare. The good:-Previously had a slipping issue, but has since been repaired. Shifts great now!!New TCUNew Transmission SolenoidsNew RadiatorNew Water Pump/ThermostatNew Serpentine BeltNew MAP SensorNew TPS SensorNew IAC SensorNew Fuel Pump and FilterNew NSS SensorNew O2 SensorNew Battery (1.5 year left on Warranty)Firestone Destination A/T 30x9.5x15 Tires with less than 4,000k on themNew Harmonic BalancerNew Idler PulleyNew Power Steering PumpNew Oil Pressure SensorNew Coolant SensorNew Pressurized Coolant ResevoirNew (2) Transmission LinesNew Front Brakes (rotors, pads, calipers) Less than 3000k of use-All work was done by myself and I have all the receipts for warranty purposes. The Bad-The Jeep is currently in "Limp/Home" mode, which means that it has to be shifted manually from 1-2, 3, to 4/D for accurate acceleration. This is caused by a bad TCU/TCM (Transmission Control Module). They aren't made new anymore, so eBay or the junkyard is the best option for replacing.-High idle in Park and Neutral. Could be a vacuum leak or another side effect of a bad TCU-Occasional Sputtering/Hesitation when accelerating in 1st. Could be a rear differential issue or yet another side effect of the TCU.-The interesting thing about these issues is that they come and go, which leads me to believe that its an electrical/computer issue. Last week, the Jeep ran perfect for 2 days and then.... here we are. The Renix Cherokees from 87-90 are notorious for poor wiring/connections.-Jeep was broken into a few months back. They accessed the Jeep by breaking the Factory Sunroof Glass. Currently, it has no Stereo, speakers or glass sunroof. It has a waterproof top on now, but definitely would need something more permanent for winter use.-Front passenger window rolls down to 90% of the way, then losses it track. If you roll down below, you have to pull up on the window with rolling it up at the same time. It always rolls up, just a pain if you roll it down too much.-Once the sunroof glass was gone, water was able to leak in during heavy rain, thus saturating the interior carpet. Since then, all the factory carpet/headlining has been removed. The few rust spots it has are fully visible and ready to be repaired.-1 of the Firestone Tires needs to be patched. Currently, the full size spare is on.This Jeep has been my daily driver for 3 years and extremely reliable. It would be a perfect starter car or restoration project for someone whose mechanically inclined or wants to learn to be. It's not perfect by any means, but with some TLC you could easily get another 100-200k out of the is Jeep. Title is free/clear and ready to be sold. "The Bad" lists the Jeeps current mechanical condition. Unfortunately, eBay won't let me edit my previous description, hence this note :)On Feb-11-16 at 17:27:01 PST, seller added the following information: *Please email me if you have less than 10 positive feedbacks before you bid. If you do not, I reserve the right to cancel your bid or end the auction early.
