Vehicle Detail
1966 Porsche 911 Coupe w/ Early '65 Production: Ivory/Blk Beauty, Nice Body/Trim. ~ August 1965 Completion/Production, 5 Speed Original Aluminum Transmission w/ LSD, Steel Wheels w/ Crest, Original Spare, 1970 2.2l Rebuilt Engine # 6107482, New PMO 40mm 2 x 3 Carbs, Seats w/ Headrests. I present my 1966 Porsche 911 coupe, sunroof delete with early 1965 production VIN #302054, repainted in its original light ivory white # 6404 ~5 years back. As its brief 4th owner I've only seen a handful of early production Porsche 911 over the years, but I offer mine to experience/pursue other rides like the early Carrera 2.7 or C4S. The Porsche drives and runs out well where I've taken the car on road/day trips to Sonoma, California and elsewhere from San Francisco, California. The car has been garage kept by its 1st & 2nd previous military pilot owners in FL the past 35+ years, for a time on jack stands, and then undergoing light restoration work by its 3rd owner based also in FL. 7 years back who is a neighbor of the 2nd owner. Per the 3rd owner, the only rust ever present was minor as seen in the rear seat floor board/panel area which have been replaced, cleaned and w/ the entire underside coated. Rust was neither present anywhere else nor on the body nor did the car have body damage. The body is straight w/o evidence of dents or dings or other defects save for 4 chipped areas ~ 3/8" each, one of which I try to show in the last picture. I've one original Porsche key and two spares, 3 total. I love that the key works to lock and unlock both driver and passenger side doors.... a bit rare as so many early cars I've encountered or had often lack this. The car runs and revs up nicely but I feel that the carb float levels are a bit on the low side as a momentary throttle lift may be needed as the engine revs winds up to 4500+ rpm where popping from the carbs is heard. The slight delay occurs mostly when its cold or luke warm and dissipates where it likes to run hot. The popping also may be that the ignition wires don't snug quite tight to all 8 spark plug tips.... with such expensive Magnecore competition ignition wires I expected better. With its Bursch exhaust/headers and street muffler there is much to enjoy hearing this car skirt thru the gears. The car steers straight, turns well and stops straight. I did recently have the car pull slightly on braking just a few times... don't know why yet as it had all its brakes and newer master cylinder installed. All side, front vent, rear wing and rear deck glass/windows are original w/ the Sekurit stamp clearly seen. The front glass is PPG and not original. All 6 front vent, rear wing and side windows roll up/down, open or swing outward w/ all window locks working. Only the passenger side roll up/down glass has a 3/8" chip at the upper edge. There are no holes, cracks or gouges on the glass other than road wear and chips. Newer rubber and seals had been installed nearly thruout the car's doors, windows and bumpers. The chrome was not sent out for refinishing, neither were any bolts nor hardware parts as they did not need it. They remain original as seen w/ some cleaning by me. The horns are nice as are the bumpers front and rear w/o any evidence of damage. The front and rear original Bosch lens show little hairline cracks, some hard to see from the pictures taken at 2'. All lights from the door opening lights, turn signals, hi-lo headlight beam, reverse lights and horn are working. No emergency flasher or cigarette lighter function but I might get to this, no guarantee. Most gauges work but the gas gauge does not move and the odometer was skipping and now seems defunct... as so true miles are unknown. It has new Konis in front, Bilsteins in back w/ bushings, brakes lines and master cylinder installed. H4 headlights, halogen fog lights. Beautiful Nardi steering wheel w/ no defects. Neither the front dash nor the rear deck lid is torn nor cracked. The 1970 2.2l engine is not the original engine, was rebuilt ~4 years back, has less than 1000miles on the rebuild and remains in break-in mode. It has: Mechanical chain tensioners, new PMO 40mm carbs including the 2 synchrometers for tuning, air cleaner rain hoods and more. Direct fire ignition by Electromotive Engine Controls: Includes EEC timing controller mounted in the deck area and their user's manual. Engine sound matting in rear deck. An accessory dash wood board was customized and mounted to hold 4 colored light switches: 2 underdash/floor lights... .not original but you'll appreciate having the lights when it's dark out Rear engine light Fog light Ignition power for starting Addedly, a keyed battery kill switch is mounted and located under the passenger side glove box area. I've installed a higher CCA battery from 630 to 800 CCA. The ignition switch works in conjunction w/ a momentary push button starter. Seemingly both a race car style or modern feature, however you can convert it back if desired. The interior headliner is new as well as new carpeting by world of upholstery. Door panels are newer w/o a flap/holder pocket... the originals did have a flappable pocket. The seats have new vinly w/ some small white paint overspray spots showing but w/ no tears/rips/stains otherwise. Those are what I believe the beautiful original headrests. 4 new Goodride radial tires, 255/70R15, ~1000 miles or less. The original spare wheel has a Sears Radial tire on it still. No heater control as the cables are latched, no toolkit, compressor or owner's manual. Needing Attention: 3 point shoulder belts were installed, but they do not perform well or retract as they should, hanging up at times. Yes, it does drip oil: some by the driver side on to the top of the headers... the oil is burnt from there when hot and I do see some oil by the center transmission mount. The slight brake pull mentioned above. Clock, odometer, gas gauge maybe. While there are always other things that can be detailed I think I've narrowed it to what's of significance. A nonrefundable $1,000 deposit via Paypal is due upon acceptance of bid or close of auction. Balance by bank check or wire transfer due w/in 5 days after auction close. Clear title, no DMV penalties. Free local pick up in San Francisco, California. I can hold the car and cooperate w/ your transporter if done w/in a reasonable time frame.
