Vehicle Detail
1960 LINCOLN Continental Mk. V, a good runner and very original and complete. I owned it for about 5 years and when I first got it, I commuted daily with it. I got married and now the car does not get used anymore and I don't find the time for it. Over the last 3 years I drove it less than 200 miles. Time to let it go to someone who will enjoy it. I do not know the true mileage as it only has a 5 digit odometer and I don't know how often it had turned over. If I were to keep the car, the next items I was going to work on would be: 1)The water pump was rebuilt, and the radiator was re-cored about 3 years ago. The brakes were re-done around the same time. I put in a new battery about 6 months ago. The diaphragm for the carburetor is cracked and I put in an in-line electric fuel pump. If the car sits for a long time, the pump has a hard time priming. I determined that the float bowl valve appears to get stuck but have not had time to take care of it. It does not seem to be an issue when the car gets run every week or two. 2) there is a small exhaust leak due to a snapped off exhaust manifold stud. This Continental is a true experience to drive. Nothing will ride as smooth!! Bumps and dips in the road do not exist, and it literally feels like you could drive it through buildings - it feels so solid. I know I will hate myself for selling it! This car's chassis and body is very straight. Everything lines up perfectly and seams and gaps are consistent and even. The motor runs strong. The interior blue and teal colored upholstery is in very nice condition. The electric seat adjustment works fine. The electric windows, including the rear window work but they may stick a little. Tires are in good condition. It is not a show winning perfect 10, but everything is there with this car and it can absolutely be driven as is or it would be a perfect, complete car for a straight forward restoration project to bring this fabulous Lincoln back to its glorious beauty. It has current California registration. Please feel free to email me at balz@motaliausa.com with any questions or concerns you may have about this car and I will answer them to the best of my abilities, but please know that I am not a vintage car expert.
