Vehicle Detail

1949 FORD F-6 COE TRUCK This COE has an excellent body for your project. It is straight and is remarkably dry. The truck was on owned by a dairy for a long time, and the paint looks original. The mileage of 43k is most likely original. This will be a great truck for a pickup rod, car hauler, rollback, ramp truck, topkick 4x4, or? Many possibilities. These trucks look nice with stepside boxes from the era. Used boxes are available but reproduction box parts are available to build a new box to your desired dimensions. Box sides, fenders, tailgates, wood floors, etc. are all available to build a box. This truck has a nice running flathead V8. It's not driveable now but wouldn't take too much. The transmission and clutch work fine also. Details are in the mechanical section. Many pics of other restored coe trucks are included, to show the potential of these trucks. I have many more pics in the link below. Only 24 fit on here. Also, there is a video of it running below under the mechanical section. Clear montana title. Thanks and happy bidding. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/vv2mwvumtfx8dol/AABzznPziFhUlSqoyoP2ZbFaa?dl=0 MECHANICAL This truck has what most likely is the original flathead V8. It runs nice. It's not "driveable" now, but doesn't appear to need any major mechanical work. The motor runs nice and starts right up but I just had it setup to see if it runs. The motor runs smooth, considering how long it sat. No misses, knocks or ticks. No exhaust smoke. What you see in the video is just because it was very cold out. The clutch and transmission work well. It drove it a few feet in first and reverse. I tried the other gears with it jacked up on stands. I'm sure the oil shold be changed but it looks fine with no abnormalities and wasn't low. To get this driving it will most likely need new fluids, some new hoses, belts, fuel filter, and one water pump. One pump was noisy so I took the belt off. I never ran the truck long enough to get the engine hot. The fuel tank could be fine, but I didn't try it. I just used a temporary tank. Fuel tank rust is not normally a problem here so it's probably usable with some clean fuel in it. Sometimes the pickup tubes get plugged with bad gas so you could check that too. I'm not sure that the fuel pump works either but they are cheap if needed. The clutch worked smooth with no jumping or slipping. Transmission sounded fine. Brakes don't work. I'm sure they at least need bled, maybe more. Parking brake works. I don't have keys to this so I just used jumper wires to get it running. It's cheap to get these ignitions keyed or just buy a new switch. It needs a starter solenoid too (cheap). The aircleaner is under the hood and a hose connects it to the carburetor. The adapter that goes on top of the carb is included. The truck rolls and steers fine. Transmission holds it well from rolling. The body is really straight overall. It has a couple light dings in the roof but the cab, doors, hood, fenders, and steps are very straight. The roof is single wall, so those dings will be easy to get straightened. The body has two small spots of rust. One is on the passenger side rear cab corner. The other spot of rust is the passenger floorpan which has pitting in a couple spots. It's still solid and very usable for a rat rod. For a nicer truck, you may want to patch it. Both spots are minor and easy to repair. You may not be able to see the floorpan rust in the pics because it is minor. This is a clean body for restoration. I've owned and seen several of these trucks, and this is the straightest one I've ever seen that hadn't already been restored. These were work trucks, and they usually have a few winkles all over and in the fenders, but this truck has a really a good body. The doors and hood close as they should. All glass is flat. I'm sure some is cracked and needs replaced, but I can double check that if they aren't visible in the pics. INTERIOR There is not much in the way of interior in these, but the seats are original which is nice. It's cleaner than these old projects usually are. Drivers seat has the factory suspension spring and shock. Gauge area all looks good and original. I believe the visors are in it. Engine cover is in it and in good shape. The pics tell the story. Many more interior pics in the dropbox link. I don't believe the dash has been cut at all. OVERALL This is an excellent truck to start with for a restoration. As described before, the body is great for a project or use as-is. It has great patina. If you've seen a restored or rodded COE, you know how cool they are. Many people put them on newer chassis, but you could use this drivetrain and shorten it to fit your needs if necesary. If you don't use this flathead engine, you can always use in in a lighter rod project or sell it. They also sell many speed products for the flathead to get this truck moving better if you choose to keep in in here. This old truck is sold as-is. Thanks and happy bidding > .
