Vehicle Detail
1952 Chevy 3100 SHORT BED / STEP-SIDE / 5 WINDOW This is one very cool old truck ! I've owned several mid-fifties trucks over the years and this is by far one of my favorite. This one has everything going for it … 1) Highly sought after 5 window option2) Short bed3) Step side4) ORIGINAL inline 6 cylinder engine with manual transmission5) INCREDIBLE patina (compliments of mother nature and father time) that would be near impossible to recreate in a paint booth !6) Original wood bed that is also nicely weathered but still intact7) Great overall stance and very original from bumper to bumper I found this truck up in Idaho a few years ago and have enjoyed playing with it. It runs, drives, stops, and draws lots of attention. Up until a year before I bought it the gentleman I got it from used it as his daily errand runner around town. He parked it in his garage when the radiator sprung a leak. For starters I gave it a new radiator, good tune-up, new battery, and fresh gas and she fired right up with a little help from a shot of starter fluid. The engine runs smooth and does not knock or smoke. The brakes are the original drum brakes all the way around and the steering is the original manual steering. However, the big steering wheel these came with make the manual steering easy to manage. I love the patina and character on this old truck and quickly ruled out doing any kind of ding or paint "repair". I decided to simply take a scotch pad to the entire body and then spray it with a coat of clear to preserve the patina. Although the truck appears to be wet in the photos it is dry. I had just washed it and towel dried it … the clear coat gives it a "wet" appearance. Overall, the body is really solid for being 63 years old and original. There is a small amount rust in one of the cab corners and a small amount in the outter edge of the front floors. The rockers and doors are solid as is the floor of the cab. The fenders (inner and outer) are in great shape as are the running/step boards. The bed sides and tailgate are solid with the exception of some rust near the front lower bed area. (See pictures). The frame rails and suspension are solid and in good shape. I put on a matching set of tires along with new chrome moon caps and trim rings. The transmission shifts through all gears smoothly. I was just about to turn my attention to the interior when I decided to let it go. I figured the next lucky owner could do the interior to their liking. The rounded corner windows on both sides of the cab are in great shape, no cracks or chips. The rear window appears to have a bullet hole through it and I have a replacement window for that one. The truck does need both windshield pieces and both door windows. The front door vent windows are both in good shape. The 4 pieces of needed glass are very inexpensive through LMC Truck. Both doors have intact and functioning window frames and hardware … both sides roll up and down as they should. The bench seat is intact and in good shape for the age but needs to be recovered. I was going to have it redone in original style black vinyl. I do have a box of parts that will come with the truck including the speedometer. All wiring is there but needs to be gone through to make sure all connections are good. All body panels fit as they should and all gaps are great. There are no signs that the truck has ever been in any kind of collision or had any body repair. Please ask any questions before bidding and have funds (and permission) in place before bidding. Shipping is the responsiblity of the buyer but I will do all I can on my end to make sure things go smoothly with your shipper. Although the truck is drivable it is not ready for a road trip so please don't plan on flying in and driving it home! She's being sold as is where is. I'm a hobbyist at heart and have owned many classics over the years and this is one of several that I own today. The only reason I'm selling her is to free up some space, and funds, to build a larger shop/garage at my home … otherwise I'd definitely hang on to this one. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time for any reason. I'm happy to discuss the truck on the phone with serious buyers as well as email additional pictures if there's something in particular you want to see. Simply email me your contact info via ebay and I'll give you a call. Yes, I'm willing to end the auction early if a fair and reasonable offer is accepted. Cheers and Merry Christmas !!
