Vehicle Detail

OVERALL – It's just a fun daily driver, so leave as-is and drive the wheels off it; or get crazy and restore to your hearts content. If you want to get crazy, it's a valuable car, and totally worth putting more time and money into. And it's all totally doable. I like working on stuff, but barely only enough space and time for 1 car at a time. A '57 Chevy (maybe a wagon) isn't really my dream car (crazy, I know), so I'd prefer to drive and work on something else right now. Drive this thing home (no trailer needed). If you're local, feel free to come check it out and go for a drive (I love driving it, so any excuse is welcome). Lots more pics and close ups HERE Pics of the not-so-good stuff HERE Video of the car running and driving HERE.Pics of the extra stuff that comes with it HERE Good running and driving ’57 Chevy Bel Air 2 door hardtop\Sport Coupe (originally a v8 car), w/ clean title and VIN tag. What else can I say.Mechanically, drive anywhere: disk brakes, good tires, newer 350/350. Been together and driven since ~2000 (to my knowledge). I don't know how many miles it's been driven since that time, and it's probably not a ton. But I know it's been on some trips and driven with regularity and impunity, which is how I've been driving it in the short time I've had it. If I had to guess, I'd say there's less than 5000mi on motor, trans, front clip, etc since it was done in 2000.Motor, trans, front suspension, exhaust, brakes & lines, tires wheels are all newer. Including front disk brakes (not power).Body is pretty decent, and much of the Sierra paint appears original, but it is cracked, chipped, etc.All the stainless trim that's on the car is nice. The chrome trim is overall in very presentable condition with generally only minor pitting and blemishes. Interior is complete (including stainless trim, etc.). Upholstery is rough.Exterior trim is missing several pieces, but has some of the big items included (see pics&descriptions)Undercarriage- Underside of body is pretty yucky. Floors and trunk have been patched over top, of most of the old crappy stuff. It’s solid from up top, but looks terrible underneath, at least in spots. If I was going to do things "right", I'd pull the body and spend a weekend cutting out the old floor and putting in one of those new complete, correct replacement floors (trunk to toe board) w/ braces and already primed (~$2000 and readily available in the aftermarket. But that's my two cents.Front clip has already been done w/ sheetmetal, disk brakes, suspension, etc.Daily driver QUIRKS- if i was going to get nit picky: It's lowered so you gotta inch over speed bumps or the headers will scrape, and at full turn the front tires can rub inside\top edge of fender. . The starter is fine a little grindy (I'm sure it needs a shim). MOTOR New and installed in 2000. 350 ci crate motor (87-95 style). Temp gauge always steady around 170 deg. Starts easy. Runs strong. New Carter 625 carb (summit)Stellings & Hellings air cleanerLokar throttle and shift cable setupCarter Fuel pumpEarly glass fuel filter+hardlinesChrome timing chain coverWeiand Action + aluminum intakeWeiand cast iron short water pump200 amp chrome alternatorChrome timing tabPulleys + fan from ’64 impalaMallory chrome coil+bracketFinned cast aluminum Moon Valve coversCoolant hosesTRANS- Rebuilt TH350 trans, torque converter and Hurst shift kit. Shifts good, kicks down just like it should............ The original steering column shifter stuff is still there if you wanted to go back to stock.EXHAUST- Headers. Newer true duals, 2" w/ cherry bombs, and chrome tips.FRONT SUSP- newer built in ~2000 when motor was installed.lowered w/ 2” Classic dropped front spindles. has a great stance.Fr. Wheel seals+bearingsR&L calipers, rotors, etcRebuild kit+ sway bar. Newer shocks and coils.REAR AXLE & SUSPENSIONboth look original. Doesn't appear to be a posi. Not sure what the gearing is but motor turns about 2500 RPM at ~60MPH.Newer shocks (mounted to frame, not body-like stock).Emergency brake intact and workingINTERIOR & TRIMBasically complete w/ original stainless, dash, window crank arms, levers, switches, ash trays, clothes hangers, etc.newer Temp and fuel gauges, replaced w/ autometer. WORKINGSpeedo works smoothly but reads fast (like 80mph at 60, and 50mph at 40; guessing).Turnsignals, radio (not stock), lights (including hi/lo beam), horn, gauges Dome light, oil pressure, charging lights all workNO Heater b/c there’s no blower motor. But the original heater core and duct work is there. NO wipers b/c there’ isn’t a motor or wiper armsFront seats are unknown and rough, but vintage enough to look correct.New moon steering wheel and horns. Working.Backseat original, but has wear & tear.Panels are new replacements just covered in a carpet material. Bare kick panels are included.Headliner & visors are original and in OK shape for age. some stitching has gone away.TRUNK- lid appears to be newer repop (so no rust). Newer rubber trunk liner. Good spare tire with jack and lug wrench. EXTERIOR & TRIMINCLUDED (Included but not pictured)-stainless spears for rear fendernice set of rear quarter inserts w/silver Belair logosDrivers side rear lower stainless quarter strip (long one)Pretty nice original grill center pieceNOT PRESENT (if you want all the pieces)Complete rear glass trim4 Vertical rear fin pieces9 of the 10 stainless side stripssheetmetal grill insertTrunk and hood are shaved, so no emblems for those.Rear bumper appears to be OEM wagon\nomad. Sought after for the license plate mount.Front bumper I'm guessing is reproduction b/c it's in really nice shape.Existing grill is just some homemade thing using alum flatstock, so don't get too excited.Door flippers are present and working well.BODYHood- looks good. Shaved emblem mounts. Pretty much ready for paintTrunk lid- looks to be newer reproduction (no rust) good pretty much ready for paint. Shaved and has electric latch popper.Front fenders- good, pretty much ready for paint. They appear to be newer reproduction fenders done at the time of motor, but I'm not sure. I don't see any repairs, issues or patch workPassenger Door- nice original, recently replaced (hence the black paint)Drivers door- original to car. Repairable and usable, but it’s got rust at lower seamRear fenders- pretty nice. Previous rust repairs at bottom ~6” in front of the wheel well. Otherwise, they look pretty nice to me.Rockers/Inner- terrible repair: just bent sheetmetalRockers/outer-replaced w/ what looks like the aftermarket replacement. Install is just OK (but that's mainly b/c of the crappy inner rockers and the manner in which the floors were patched. Floors- Fully patched, BUT over top of much of the crappy original floors. So it’s solid and decent looking from up top, but looks like crap underneath.Trunk- Fully patched, including spare tire well. BUT over top of much of the crappy original floors. So it’s solid and decent looking from up top, but just like the floorboards, looks like crap underneath. Newer rubber mat. Good spare tire, jack, wrench, and mountBody mounts- some of the body mounts and subrails are rough, but mostly on the ends outside of the frame rails, and the ones at the rear of the passenger compartment are the worst.Looks like newer fuel tank.FRAME- original welded seam frame. Has a couple of rough spots near ends. And one section that was plated over where it got a little thin.Definitely runnable, but definitely not perfect.GLASS -All original and all there. The drivers side door glass is cracked, but it's a flat piece so, relatively cheap and easy.2 small chips in windshield. No big deal: just divulging everything I've seen.Minor delaminating bubbles on some of the edges (if that bothers you). All windows roll up and down well or in or out just fine.needs all weatherstripping, and you'd want all new felts while you are at it.WHEELS & TIRES- nice chrome astro type 5 star wheels. whitewall radials in good shape.EXTRAS INCLUDEDNew weatherstrip for trunkNew heater seal kitNew door lock cylindersNice fitted car coverNew black carpet kit w/ JuteNew official chevy service and assembly manuals.TRIM- top Stainless spears for rear fendernice set of rear quarter inserts w/silver Belair logosDrivers side rear lower stainless quarter strip (long one)Pretty nice original grill center piece
