Vehicle Detail

1966 Volkswagen Beetle (from Germany, not Brazil or Mexico.) Clean Florida title in my name. 1641cc engine with Engle 110 cam, ceramic header, single carb and single exhaust. Freeway flyer transmission with brass fork built by Jim Loftin. The car was a pan-off restoration done three years ago. I daily drove it for the first eight months and has been a show car ever since. The color code is L50B, Diamond Blue which was an original color in 1969. There is zero rust on the car. This was a California car originally and has been in Tampa Florida the past seven years. The pan is solid and during the restoration I coated the pan with POR-15. Shaved antenna. Porsche headlights. All new door, window, headlight, tail light, engine, and fender seals. New windshield. New carpet. New transmission mounts, all new brake shoes, wheel cylinders, drums, and brake hoses. Smoothie hubcaps and beauty rings. The car is lowered on 2.5" drop spindles up front and has a 4" narrowed beam. The tires do not rub at all. You can turn the wheel from lock to lock in a U-turn and it will not rub. The rear is lowered one notch down. All new shocks, ball joints and tie rod ends. The original Sapphire I radio is still in the dash but I do have a working CD player hidden in the glovebox and a Kicker speaker in the dash. Port-o-wall white walls on all tires including the spare in the trunk. The tires are in good condition and have plenty of tread left. 135s up front, 165s in the rear. Chrome running boards. All the lights and gauges work. Original bumpers front & rear, not cheap repops that flake and rust in 6mos. This car was built first and foremost to be a great driver. Topped out the car will do 96mph -verified by GPS. The car has been garaged daily since the restoration and valve adjustments completed every 1500-2000mis. Any questions feel free to ask. On Nov-20-15 at 04:35:13 PST, seller added the following information: The car has been converted to 12v.On Nov-21-15 at 11:52:38 PST, seller added the following information: Question: Does the vehicle a come with swing arm or independent rear suspension? The '66 has swing arm rear suspension. Question: Are there disc brakes in the front or are they drum? This Beetle retains the four wheel drum brakes as it did back in 1966. All of the components have been replaced at the time of restoration and the shoes have plenty of life left. The brakes stop surprisingly well but there are aftermarket kits available for disc brake conversions if that is an upgrade you are interested in. Question: How low is the Beetle and can you go over speed bumps? At the lowest point of the front beam is 4.5" clearance. I haven't had any issues with speed bumps. Any large speed bumps you can take at an angle and clear without scraping. On Nov-23-15 at 16:01:06 PST, seller added the following information: The stereo in the glove box has a USB port which is handy for charging cell phones. There's also a MP3 input for iPods, etc.
