Vehicle Detail
NOTE: This is a relisting. The original buyer was Deagan (Larry) Henning (user name: deaganh) Apparently, Mr. Henning has a hard time understanding that a deposit is required after winning the car (notice description). He stated: "I'll be there next weekend to pick it up I don't send money prior to pickup due to ebay policies if something is not right or hasn't been listed it's too difficult to get a refund" Well, that's not the way it works, Mr. Henning. This is not a "you get to inspect it and determine if you feel like it, at a time convenient to you." The auction required a deposit, and you apparently, don't read requirements well (see under "Payments"). If you don't want to follow the rules, don't bid. Duh. What a waste of time.Enough about that...bad eggs exist in every basket, I suppose. So, we'll try it again. I finally have to sell my baby. Please do remember that you are free to come inspect the vehicle PRIOR to purchasing. Just arrange a time with me. Trust me, Betsy ain't movin'.------- Now about the car: Frankly, it's sick, and I'm a lawyer not a car doctor. I like to dabble, but it is now beyond my meager skills. She needs a new thermostat, new plugs, probably a new gasket or two, and definitely a new distributor cap. The roof locking mechanism works, but it is a little wonky. I disconnected the battery, but I think it needs jumpin'. On the bright side, you have three all but new tires, one that is not new (ahem). Full size spare. Hell, the tires alone are ~$250 a piece. The top works, but the closing clasp/pull is finicky. I love this car! It is awesome in the summer. DO NOT get this car unless you want (a) a parts car, or (b) a car you are ready to fix-up. You can't drive it further than about 1 mile, as it overheats now. The car is a wonderful beast that has lasted years with me, and most recently, my daughter. It overheated and, as previously mentioned, it has a couple of other issues that I've been meaning to get around to, but have not. It was doing okay until the thermostat issue. Could there be other issues? Of course. I have not field stripped the engine, transmission, and electronics, obviously. But at a starting price of $500, I am all but giving it away. Naturally, this is AS IS, WHERE IS. Bring a wrench :) I may be missing other problems with the vehicle -- I'm not an expert (I stop at changing the break pads). Notice the price for 2000 CLK's in good shape...$12K is common. I am starting this at $750. If you pay more than $2K for this, you are over paying (unless you need a whole lot of parts). NOTE -- YOU WILL HAVE TO ARRANGE TRANSPORTATION -- you won't be able to drive this car beyond oh, say, the end of our street. Also, as the first paragraph indicates, a $500 deposit is required immediately after the close of the auction (24 hours). Don't be a Mr. Henning!
