This is a black 2001 BMW 540i 4.4L V8 6-Speed RWD M-Package Sedan. I am not the first owner, but I treat it as if I am. Since owning it, I have kept it clean and well-maintained. It has been fully detailed, including re-conditioning the leather, sanding/polishing the headlights, and touching up scratches and dings. I will be sure to wash and wax it before it's new owner picks it up. Cosmetically, it is in great condition for a 2001, with only minor scratching. There is a minor dent/ding in the passenger side rear quarter-panel where it was hit in a parking lot (before I owned it), which has been cleaned and pulled out by yours truly and is now barely noticeable, which can be seen by the detailed pictures I have taken. I am a non-smoker, and there is no evidence of anyone having smoked in the vehicle. Some minor stains in the carpet and mats (from before I owned it) which I will attempt to eliminate; the previous owner included the original mats as well as a new set, both of which will be cleaned and included with the vehicle. It's been garage-kept when not in use, aka over night or if I'm away or toying around in my Wrangler, on my bike, etc. Mechanically the vehicle is like-new in many of the important components that would ordinarily need replacement over time, including brand-new intake manifold gaskets and covers, all timing components (a full timing set, including timing chains, guide rails, etc), hoses and reservoirs, water pump and most fluids have been changed or topped off. A full list of the OEM equipment I have pre-emptively replaced over my tenure as owner can be provided. It runs like new, and is incredibly fun (and fast) to drive. All four tires and all four sets of brake pads and rotors are fairly new, having less than 5-10k miles on them (all replaced at the same time); and the tires are Sumitomo HTR ZIII, the brakes front and rear are Powerstop cross-drilled and slotted disc. It may need a front sway-bar replaced for the next inspection but would require a mechanic's inspection. The passenger side window would sometimes have trouble going up, so I opened it up and re-clamped the glass and re-strung the actuator pulley system and it seems to work fine. The dashboard HUD info display will be missing some pixels here and there sometimes, and be fully visible other times (either as a function of temperature or electrical connection, and either way can be removed and have the contacts refitted so as to work properly, I just haven't gotten there yet.) All I use it for is the odometer/trip, and it will occasionally automatically warn if the temperature falls below 37 degrees, but in both instances I can tell what it is saying. The entertainment system display (radio stations, etc) also has a few pixels out, but very few and is fully readable/usable. Windshield wipers should probably be replaced (as I haven't done so recently) but for all intents and purposes work fine. I have thoroughly enjoyed owning this car and will be sad to see it go, as it has taken myself, my family, and my friends faithfully and rather excitingly up and down the east coast. My brother and I are car guys, and he owned a 1997 540i M-Package, the same exact as mine except in Silver, but we have decided both to move on to something else. I hope this vehicle finds a Bimmer enthusiast or a newcomer to the Bimmer family!
