Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 97 Chevy Cavalier for repair or parts. I am almost positive the problem with it is the anti theft system, car turns over fine just wont start, its not getting gas or spark. The car ran perfect until last winter I got stuck in the snow & my girlfriend pushed me out with her van & then the anti theft light came on & the next day it would not start. I know the car has a lot of miles on it about 224000 but it still ran & drove perfect & never had a problem starting or driving it until that. If someone knows about electrical car problems they could probably fix it no problem, possibly bypass the anti theft system or reset it. The only other thing it could be is maybe the ignition or even a bad ground wire, it is not the fuel pump because that was replaced with a new one about 3 or 4 months before this happened, I honestly do not know much about cars. I know almost nothing about fixing vehicles & if I did I'd probably be driving it right now. The only other problems with the car at all except for some cosmetics & the muffler. The muffler fell off & I had a friend weld it back on but it fell off again but I do have it attached again but it was a little loud & the drivers wiper fell off. It has no radio/cd player, I sold my stereo system, also I forgot to mention the trunk leaks but I had a friend who told me to put vaseline around the rubber trunk seal & it stopped it completely but after about 5 or 6 months it will start again so you just have to apply it a couple times a year & no more leaks. The back seat can be pulled down also for access to the trunk and it was great for my system I had installed. If your interested make a offer, it was a great running car before the theft system light came on, I never had a problem starting it ever in even in 15-20 below weather & it always ran great up until then & also had really good gas mileage with it. I would just get it fixed but the chevy dealership in my town told me it could cost up to $400.00 just to test it to find the problem, I called the next town to me & the chevy dealership there told me $32 minimum to test & if it needed more testing it would cost $60 total but to have the car towed there would probably cost me about $150 to $200 so I figured I'd just sell it to someone who could get a better deal than I could or new a mechanic or knows what they are doing & could possibly fix it easily. No other problems with it. It ran & drove perfect, good gas mileage. If you have any questions please ask before buying & I'll get back to you asap & please only serious buyers only. Please do not buy unless you intend on paying & picking up the car, this is being sold as is with no returns, thank you.
