1960 Austin Healey "Bugeye/Frogeye" Sprite for sale. Great and reliable driving California car (I'm the fourth owner). Has been loved and taken care of with very thoughtful performance upgrades over the years. 1275cc engine, 4 speed Datsun Transmission. On 1/8/14 the engine and transmission was removed, disassembled and all seals and gaskets replaced. Reassembled engine and transmission and installed into car. Today the compression checks at 140 PSI in all 4 cylinders. This car runs reliably from 60+ to 40 PSI of oil pressure and engine temperature of 160-170 degrees all day long with only a few drops of oil after a longer trip over the mountain (it's British). No over-heating issues, smoking, etc. On 11/4/14 the hand-brake, fuel gage sender, speedo and heater were all repaired and still function today. This is $3,000 of repairs and I have the paperwork from British Auto Repair in San Diego, CA. Disc brakes in the front, Twin SU Carbeurators, header pipes, electronic ignition. Widened steel rims with appropriate 13" Yokahama tires, which definitely provides superior handling characteristics vs. stock/narrow wheels. Thoughtful dashboard gages and interior. I have driven this car over the past year, having put 2,500 miles on it with only one breakdown (starter left me hanging). I replaced the starter with rebuilt, but still have the original. I have not driven it daily, but rather several times a month and on weekends. I have maintained it and given it the love it requires to keep such a car on the road reliably. This is not a show car, but has a clean rust-free body, a nice paint job that hasn't flaked off (only minor blemishes that come with use). Also comes with toneau cover, hard top (as shown), soft top (not shown) and car cover. This is a great classic machine which never fails to turn heads or bring out smiles and great stories. I'm selling this car to pursue a different car that I've had my eye on, don't "need" to sell it, but hoping it will find a new and appreciative owner.
