Vehicle Detail

Up for bid is my 1982 Toyota Long Bed Pickup. Always garaged; a true survivor with the dependable 22R engine, 5-speed manual overdrive transmission and all original paint. I purchased this truck brand new in Virginia in June of 1982 and used it for a few years; then my father who was 68 at the time, purchased it from me when it had 5500 miles on it. He drove it occasionally until he was 88 years old and then he placed it in storage in 2005. Although I had it Ziebart rustproofed the day I took delivery of it, neither my father nor I ever drove this truck in the winter so it has never seen any road salt. As a result of my father’s recent death, I am once again the owner of this little gem. I removed it from storage in May, changed the oil and have driven it a few times over the last several months. It's fun to drive and it has always been reliable over the years. In the past, it always ran silky smooth but I noticed that especially when cold, it sometimes stumbles now since being removed from storage although it is better than it was at first. The truck has almost 84,000 miles on it and has been well maintained by our local Toyota dealer. This truck was always pampered by my father and he just used it for small projects. One thing that stands out about this little truck is that it’s so original. No dings or dents in the body. Wheels and tires are in nice condition; not even a dent or a scrape in the trim rings that I can see. There are a few chips in the edge of the driver’s door; a little paint wear on the edge of the driver rocker panel and there is a dent in the rear bumper as shown in the picture; as I recall, the dent occurred when Dad backed into his deck. The truck has the “Deluxe” trim with lots of extras including power steering, factory sport wheels, AM/FM stereo, and “deluxe stainless side mirrors”. Several of the tires are the original Bridgestone’s but the others have been replaced; my father always drove very slowly so he didn't believe in balancing tires so I recommend that the buyer plan to do that. The bed of the truck always had a protector in it so it's in very nice shape; a few scratches but nothing much. The cap was installed by the dealer right before delivery. It's a Glasstite fiberglass cap with full lighting equipment and the optional rack. The (2) lift cylinders on the cap really should be replaced since they are weak but my father liked it just the way it was so he attached a small bracket to one cylinder to automatically lock the hatch in the open position. At some point, the local Toyota dealer replaced the fuel pump, water pump and belts. For a truck that’s over 30 years old, it’s not perfect but it is a very nice little truck. Whoever buys this truck is free to do as they wish but I hope that it goes to someone who will give it the same kind of care that it has always had. I tried to take pictures of everything that I thought would be helpful but let me know if you would like additional pictures. This truck has some sentimental value to me but I’m currently overwhelmed and really need to clear out all of the garages and his properties. … I just cannot keep everything. Included is all original paperwork including window sticker, owner’s manual, dealer brochure, (2) unused factory original keys with key code and other paperwork. Maine doesn’t require a title on pre-1995 vehicles however if you need one, Maine can provide a certification letter so that a title can be generated by your state. Please ask any questions as it’s an old truck and although I tried to cover everything, I may have missed something. Winning bidder assumes all transportation arrangements and costs. $500 non-refundable deposit is required within 24 hours of auction end. Full payment in cash or check is required within (5) days of auction end. Truck may be picked up once all payments have cleared. In the event that the winning bidder fails to comply with the payment requirements, the truck may be offered to the second highest bidder (if reserve is met). Buyers with zero feedback please contact me prior to bidding or I will cancel your bids. Thank you for looking! Happy bidding. REGARDING THE INCORRECT AUTOCHECK REPORT SHOWN: I am currently working with Auto-check to resolve the clerical error that shows 100,000 miles that were added to the correct mileage back in 1984;. In the meantime, for a correct report, please request a Car-fax report; all important information seems to be correct although I did note that they have the wrong selling dealer. If you want a copy of a Car-fax report that I requested on 10/15, please let me know. Buyers with zero feedback, please contact me prior to bidding or I will cancel your bids out of fairness to other bidders. Thank you for looking and .... Happy bidding! On Oct-19-15 at 19:54:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Well . . . some very good news. At my request, Autocheck has researched the truck and has corrected their records to show a clean history including a clean title and odometer reading. The problem was that a clerical error was reported to Autocheck. Instead of the truck having a low score of 18, the score is now an exceptional 49! Thanks to EBay and Autocheck for being so willing to investigate the background of my truck. It helped that I was the original owner and could provide the documentation that was required to verify the vehicle history. Now, not only is the truck in nice shape, the records support that; maybe that's not important to everyone, but it's important to me.On Oct-23-15 at 11:33:58 PDT, seller added the following information: Someone asked if the truck has ever been sold at an auto auction. No, as shown in the Carfax report, it has always been owned for personal use.
