Vehicle Detail
The term "barn find" has been wildly misused in recent years, but this is the genuine barn find in all aspects. Here is the story of this one owner truck. It was sold new to a local tobacco farmer. Shortly after purchasing the truck, he added an eight foot slide in camper to it. His daughter said that he drove it to rivers and lake at any opportunity to fish. It accrued 122000 miles in it's lifetime. As the farmer got up in age, he began misjudging where the corners of the barn were, as evidenced in the photos. Reluctantly, he agreed to stop driving about four years ago, and two years later passed away. His daughter recently contacted me because I now own the building that the truck was sold new at. She said they needed to sell the truck, so I decided to take a look. When I got to their farm, there it was, in the barn. In the stall next to it was the camper, on it's original stilts. I made sure the engine was not frozen, then went about the task of moving it over one stall to mount the camper for transport. That is what I consider to be a legitimate "BARN FIND". Now about the truck...It is a 1966 F-100 Custom Cab short bed pickup with a 352 FE engine and three speed transmission. We got the truck running with nothing more than a battery and fresh gas, and a few pumps of the brake pedal brought them back to life. The clutch is smooth and strong. I have driven around the parking lot only, not on the road as of yet. The truck is more solid than most I see, but there are a few rust issues to be addressed in a restoration. There is a small amount of corrosion where the floorboard meets the toeboard on the driver's side. There has been a repair made on the two front cab mounts. They are very solid now. Not visible is a very minor amount of rust under the camper near the front of the bed. The cab corners, doors, wheel openings and basic outer sheetmetal is solid as seen in the photos. I have the original large NC title for this truck. This would be an easy "drive while you restore" project. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions as I want the new owner to be pleased with what they are buying. If you win this auction and you personally come to get the truck and are not happy with it, you don't have to take it, but if you send someone other than yourself, and it leaves my property, it is yours to have and hold with no returns or complaints. (kinda like a spouse, but much less expensive, and quieter) I do have this truck for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Thanks for looking and sorry for the long read.
