Vehicle Detail

Description Are you looking for that original 1950 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 Convertible to restore or recondition? This is a survivor that would be that great project car. Please scroll down and enjoy the 300+ photos. If you cannot view all the photos, please click here. This vehicle was purchased years ago, and along the way, the owner purchased a parts 4 door sedan, and both spent much their later life in a barn in Wisconsin, as evidenced by the documentation. This vehicle was stored from 1966 to 1974 in a garage, then stored in a barn from 1981 until we unearthed it from the barn. It was stored on a wood floor. The vehicle has had two owners throughout it's 65 year old life. Condition Report: This vehicle is very straight and original, and fairly rust free. However, it is disassembled as you can see. There are extra hoods and other parts, as well as the chrome strips as shown. We have no way to determine if everything is there, but believe it is fairly complete. We did run the distributor tag and it appears to be original, and the motor and transmission also appear to be original but no guarantees. Note the drive shaft, radiator, air cleaner and other parts appear to be there. We did not spend much time, but did not see the carb although it could easily be buried in the other parts. The engine is not mounted in the car, and appears to be tight. We were surprised to see very little rust on this beauty. Take a look at the rockers, floor pans, trunk pan, fenders and doors. They are in great shape and very serviceable in our opinion. We were also impressed with the door hinge area, top and bows, and other parts. The locks and keys are also present aside from the trunk, but the extra trunk lid does have the lock present. It has also had a nest or two inside the vehicle over the years. The driver rear quarter looks like it has had some work done. The fender skirts are also present. The color appears to be correct- 13C Canto Cream (pale yellow) with a red interior. The VIN tag is present and the title is clear.Look at the value trend of this vehicle courtesy of Hegerty. The average selling price in all vehicle conditions is $42,476.00. In our opinion, it is worth a complete restoration: https://www.hagerty.com/valuationtools/HVT/VehicleSearch/Report?vbe=73709Here is an interesting article on the 1950 Rocket 88 courtesy of Motor Trend: http://www.motortrend.com/classic/roadtests/c12_0612_1950_oldsmobile_88_coupe/viewall.html In short, it will need a total restoration or reconditioning before it will run and drive. but these are a rare bird. It is a great vehicle that would make a great addition for the Oldsmobile enthusiast. Additional auction information: This vehicle is sold as-is. We cannot warranty any parts on any used vehicle.
