Vehicle Detail
This is the one in a lifetime opportunity to collect a very low miles FD3, why this car is collectible? I could start with the exciting rotary engine that expert tuners can extract 500hp without even opening the engine and we don't know when Mazda will stop making rotary engines, but this was the last rotary twin turbo design for sure. If you are looking for collecting a car or you are car to prepare for auto shows with the huge aftermarket parts in the market, sponsors and tuners available that the sky is the limit. This particular FD3 is not just a rare car, it is more collectible because this base model, Mazda made only 72 each, making it even more rare than the "R1" version. The R1 version came only in mica yellow, red and black colors. This model is similar to the lighter weight R1 because it has two oil coolers and it didn't come with the rear wiper, rear bose (heavy) speaker and sunroof. The rotary enthusiasts know better the details of the R1 but the rarest color of the R1 was mica yellow and Mazda made 350 of those. I got another Mazda RX-7 which I am installing a wide body kit, so I don't need this one. I actually don't have the time or space for this one because I just bought a Porsche 930 which is as rare as this RX-7.Selling under retail price!! The NADA high retail price is $20,100. Everything original OEM. The radiator is the thicker polished all aluminum racing 3 cores aftermarket to make this car more reliable and run cooler (picture included of intercooler disconnected from bracket so you can see the radiator). On top of that the radiator hoses were replaced by blue silicone 3-Ply Nylon high performance and the thermostat was replaced with a temperature switch. Solid body... No rust! These cars are going for over $25,000 in ebay with even with more miles than this one!! The price of the RX-7 is increasing by the minute!! This is a good investment so you could sell this beauty even higher price in the future and make money. The car looks, sounds and feels like a 53k miles car. The power windows, cruise control and everything else work like they are supposed to. It runs straight like a railcar. The most impressive parts of this particular car is the interiors. The people who own FD3's know that is very hard top find one with the plastics in the doors and center console intact (without cracks). This one has pretty nice interiors, and the leather is not ripped on the seats. New windshield and new battery. The bad: The pop up lights need more work, the driver side is not going up/down and I don't know why ... it should be an easy wiring or fuse issue and it has a spider crack on the lower corner. I got the fixed slick carbon fiber headlights in my other RX-7 (looks better, I would do the same to this one). The car is sold AS IS in Houston, TX. It is offered locally for sale, so I reserve the right to stop the auction if the buyer reaches my asking price locally. You are welcome to test drive the car. The engine has good compression and the transmission shifts like it should do, (no slipping or kicking). See pics of tachometer (RPM) with engine running...no check engine light. I Just came back in town and the car is hard to start .? I don't know what is going on, I thought the cooling system was OK but apparently is leaking. The shipping is not included, you need to get your own transport company, I could help in the loading stage to take videos and pics. The car has no registration sticker. Title in hand. NO RESERVE !! Good Luck!! Happy Bidding!! On Sep-26-15 at 12:16:38 PDT, seller added the following information: Update: today I finally made some time to mess with this car. I took the spark plugs out, they were extremely dirty with sludge. I cleaned them out and the car started right away. I think that was the reason why it wouldn't start right away. I just wanted to verify if the car was in running conditions just for your benefit of loading and unloading the car in a truck transport or trailer. I know it is more expensive the shipping if the car is not running. So you can save some money here because the car is running. at least to load and unload. I don't know how far you can run it because I haven't driven the car only to move it around my house and it does not have stickers or licence plate. On Sep-28-15 at 16:13:03 PDT, seller added the following information: A lot of people are asking the same question: why the title is salvage? For me the answer is obvious because I have bought so many salvage cars but I guess many people don't know the technicality of this word. Here is the answer:The car had an accident, it was sold in the auctions by insurance company and then it was repaired. I got another RX-7 salvage that had burnt engine... Insurance companies prefer to salvage titles than to repair them to save money and people don't care even if they loose money.Once you register the car the title is going to show "Rebuilt". If I register the car myself in Texas and you transfer it to another state the rebuilt could even disappear. It depends of the state laws. I am not planning to register the car because it costs me money and I'm selling the car for cheap. You could investigate your own state laws. If you want me to register it here because your state will delete the "rebuilt" you will need to absorb the cost and I will be happy to help you erasing that technical word from your title. Maybe you don't even need me to register it here but, like I said, you need to investigate your state laws and procedures for vehicle titles. The only disadvantage of salvage titles is when you are going to finance a car, the bank rules don't allow to finance them, but these old collective cars don't get financed, so it does not really matter. Nobody is going to see my title when I'm driving my car or when I go to auto shows. It all depends of what you want the car for.... ;) Another question that race enthusiasts have is; Can I convert it to standard transy? The answer is YES. I did it myself to my other FD but to do so there are some major steps:1) Change engine and transmission (they sell them from $1,500 to $2,000 in ebay with the ECU and harness. Make sure there is nothing cut off!2) Change ECU and engine harness (could accomplish it on step 1 all together)3) Change the brake and clutch pedal assembly (no need to cut or weld nothing). It is a bolt on application unless you buy aftermarket or you adapt form older RX-74) Recommended to replace dash harness and cluster gauges if you are not a wiring expert (I'm not an wiring expert so I did it).5) Install a clutch pump and line - bolt on - the hole is there for the pump, you just need to remove a cap. The clutch slave is supposed to come with the std. transmission.6) Then you can keep your engine as spare and or sell both engine and transy to recuperate from the investment. At the end when you sell the parts the investment is not that much ;) On Sep-28-15 at 18:09:41 PDT, seller added the following information: I have a GT Concept Duraflex full body kit as shown in last picture that I could sell for an additional $300 of the auction price or I could throw for free if you bid $8,300 or more. The bumper lights are not included in the kit. They will be in a separate auction.
