Vehicle Detail
Thank you for looking at this low mileage, second owner, 1958 Volkswagen. Originally this car was purchased by a Virginia attorney to use as for commuting a short distance to work five days a week. Upon retiring the car was parked in his garage until he passed away. So, with 55,800 original miles on the car it sat, tucked away in the garage for almost 40 years. The original floorpans are intact and in excellent condition. The original engine is tuned up and runs excellent. Sitting, even in dry storage takes a toll on vehicles, so some restoration was necessary to make things like new again. This includes Glacier Blue lacquer paint (which was original car color and paint type), new window rubber, new window felt tracks, new weather-stripping, new correct “mouse hair” headliner, new upholstery, new carpet, and new runningboards with new rubber, new chrome bumpers, and new tires. Brakes and tune-up were done by a retired Volkswagen mechanic. New European oak strips were used to restore the original VW marked roof rack. As pointed out by a friend who is more of a VW enthusiast then we are, the original 4 tab hood and the original snow flake taillights are still in good shape. Restoration was completed a few years ago but there have only been seven miles put on it, mileage now 55,807. It is stored inside. Cranked and moved regularly. . Grandson wants it but the car would sit for 8+ more years. Time for someone to enjoy it Original paperwork including original owners manual (missing cover) and original service booklet. If I’ve forgotten anything that you would like to know, questions are welcomed. On Sep-19-15 at 07:29:30 PDT, seller added the following information: Due to request for additional info and photos we added photos and the following: The floor pans were stripped, primed and shot with two stage black enamel. What appears to be spots on the headliner are due to camera and lighting. The headliner is new. Thanks for your interest.
