Vehicle Detail
This is a RARE car...its a 1972 Camaro Rally Sport Z/28. Vin starts out 1Q87L2N...was originally paint code 56..which is called Cream Yellow..basically a pale yellow. You can see that paint color all over the car under the cheap black paint. Was also a YF8 black stripe car..and code 785 black deluxe interior car. Optioned with power steering too. This car never had a console...don't believe it came with a rear spoiler either..the '70 style short one on the car has been on it for 35 years or more. Whats neat too is that this car was optioned with the 4.10 posi rear...so don't know if this car was special ordered or what..but seems like it was an all business car. They only made 2500 and change Z/28s in 1972..I believe the second lowest production with 1967 being the lowest. All of the body parts with the exception of the hood..which is new...and the drivers door, are original to this car. Car has always been in the Los Angeles area...all I have for the engine and trans are the parts shown. Note the day two mods...has an old bolt in roll bar..probably a Hooker..and the Deist competition lap belt. Note that all the parts shown have been with the car since the 80;s when it was parked...except for the new parts noted...parts shown are original that came with this car or period replacements. Still has correct looking wheels...correct instrument cluster..right numbered Winters intake...correct Holley list 6239 with a date that is about 6 months after this car was made according to the trim tag...maybe a warranty replacement? Rearend is CB code dated late 1971..and this car was built in 01B...so that looks right. The rear sway bar is still in place. Also comes with the correct 621 bellhousing, air cleaner, and correct for 1972 push in oil cap valve covers. Also looks like the radiator that came with it is original...also the fan blade is here and I think its specific to solid lifter engines. Look at the pics of the parts carefully. Came with a Hurst shifter..and the backdrive for the steering column. I read online that Camaros didn't come with Hurst shifters in 1972...so don't know about that. A friend noticed that it looks like the shifter handle was heated and bent more towards the driver..possibly another second day mod. Dash carrier has been removed and is broken. Overall its a very solid car...only rust started at the back window sides..so that needs repair..also caused a leak inside the quarter panels causing them to rust behind the tire and a little in front...trunk pan is toast. You can still see much original paint on the floors....doors...frame rails...wheel wells..both front and back...etc..are super nice. Front subframe was pulled off..blasted and rebuilt. Front RS turn signals and windshield are brand new. Many parts on this car are in excellent condition. There are some missing parts..hood hinges..hood latch..radiator top brace..what you don't see..I don't have. The original trim tag to this car was removed when the engine compartment was cleaned up...I have it..just needs to be reattached with new rivets that are commonly available at parts houses like NPD etc.. have both original blue and yellow CA license plates. Generally the body is really straight...but there is a dent below the rear bumper on the valance. Does show some old body work on the front fenders as well. I have a complete lien sale packet that is just as good as a title in CA. I can also get a CA title and send it to your home state if you wish..no additional charge... BUY IT NOW OFFERS CONSIDERED...
