On offer here is an exciting car for us to list! This is a 1940 Ford Standard Two Door Coupe which was was unearthed from a garage in a small Kansas town! We love our 40 Fords and have had the privilege of buying and selling more than our share but this one is really a great, original, and honest car! This car was in the same loving ownership for over 40 years and has survived to this day in very original condition. The car was repainted in 1982 in its original factory color of dark blue and still features its original upholstery. Overall, the car is in extremely solid condition, especially considering that the car has never been restored. There is some surface rust underneath the running boards and throughout the undercarriage but we can find no evidence of any structural rust throughout the car. It also does have a few small pen holes and surface rust in the trunk but what more can be expected of a car which has never been restored but rather lovingly looked after over the course of its life? This is about as solid and honest a 40 Ford as you are going to find here on eBay! As far as needs, the car does have a few. As you can see in the pictures, it is in need of a new headliner. The headliner bows are still present. The car also would benefit from a new exhaust system as well as a new gas gauge as the current one does not work. Finally, the radio is sort of hit and miss. Sometimes it functions and some times it does not. The mechanicals of the car are absolutely fabulous though. The car runs and drives like a dream and can be taken on the highway up to 70mph with ease! In fact, we would have to say that the way this car drives is only matched by how original and solid the car is. The car has just recently benefited from new Dennis Carpenter brakes, brake pads, lines, and drums. It runs cool, stops straight, and shifts through the gears smoothly. Cant ask for much more out of one of these great 40 Fords! Being that the car has survived in such original condition all these years, we would not at all doubt that the mileage of 88,889 could be original.
