Vehicle Detail
1976 BMW 2002 – brief summary: 5 speed Getrag conversion, high performance engine, M3 starter, Bilstein Shocks and H&R spring, IE exhaust, Hella H4 headlights, etc. (see list below). This is a nice car! It’s a fast and great looking classic example of the last year in production. I’ve owned it since June 2012, and under normal circumstances I would keep it and continue to work on it, but I'm finding myself in the middle of a financial crisis, so I have to let it go. Here is a list of things accomplished since that time (I have a great deal of maintenance records , BMW dealership and Ireland Engineering invoices that will be shipped along with the car): *** eBay only allows 24 pics to be posted. If you'd like to see more, please contact me with an email address. Thanks! THIS IS A HIGH COMPRESSION, HIGH PERFORMANCE ENGINE (this alone costing me nearly $5000) I've had it for 1 1/2 years now and cannot speak highly enough of it. It is certainly fast & furious, and coupled with the Shrek, Ansa downpipe and IE exhaust, plus the Borla tip - it is a joy to listen to! - Dual Valve Springs - High performance 304 schrick camshaft.- Ireland Engineering LIGHT WEIGHT Flywheel - 3M Starter upgrade: a lot of torque, starts perfectly. - new motor mounts (rubber for passenger side, and IE green urethane for the driver – initially both were urethane but the vibration through the chasis was just too jarring). - water pump, new - valve gasket, new - valve cover – redone and refitted with a new baffle that connects straight to the side catch can. - Mobil Full Synthetic oil – new fill plug replaced - NGK sparks plugs, new DRIVELINE/CLUTCH: - Getrag 5 speed conversion done by Eastside Transmission with correct kit supplied by Ireland Engineering (including shortened drive shaft, and short shift lever and plate, new guibo, etc. Please see Ireland Engineering webpage detailing all parts of kit) - Differential; flush and fill with Red line Gear Oil, (new fill plug) - Aluminum Racing Pedal - the unreliable accelerator pedal was replaced with an aluminum racing-type pedal. INTAKE/EXHAUST/FUEL: - WEBER 40 DCOE carbs tuned & synched at Integrity Automotive in Issaquah - The sexy Redline Top Mount Throttle linkage – installed by Integrity Auto (plus they manufactured a bracket for the linkage leading from the pedal box. Perfect pro job!) - Exhaust Header – Tii upgrade, with new stud & copper nuts, resprayed with three coats of Gray Hi-Temp Eastwood - Ansa downpipe > IE SS Exhaust System with center exit > Borla tip - Fuel pump upgrade - electric Carter P4070. - Fuel Tank – taken out, cleaned with acetone, painted and reinstalled on close cell foam. WHEELS: - Genuine Panasport – 14”; - Tires –Potenza RE92 (P185/60R14), nearly new Additional notes (and things that should be considered): Paint – car was repainted as Viper Red from it’s original color scheme of Verona Red. It still shows shiny and great, but it could use some touch ups, namely on the hood (one stelate and one linear crack), also two or three small cracks in the fender paint and door, and some bubbling on the driver side fender. Hood – needs to be readjusted as it vibrates and knocks while the car idles low at stop lights, and can be annoying. Rust – there was an area measuring approx 5 inches of rust on both driver and passenger side. Both were fixed by doing a rust treatment followed by welding a steel plate on driver’s side, and fiberglass on passenger side. Trim – there are scratches and could use a good buffing or replacements. Tower Brace – not anchored because the Interstate battery was taller than expected, thereby making it difficult to take out. A new smaller battery (Optima?) could be recommended. This is by no means a show car - she’s a practical, light and nimble hard working girl in fact!! but it has all the goods to pass for one of the nicest drivers that I’ve seen. PS – also included will be the dash under panels that I never installed; Also, whatever small parts and supplies that I’ve accumulated will be included. Please let me know if any questions.
