I am selling my silver 1999 Miata. It was my daily driver for years until I bought a new vehicle. Now it just sits there, so I am hoping someone can enjoy this wonderful car. The Good: This car has been super reliable since I purchased it (on Ebay) in 2006. Breakdowns have been few and far between, and easily repaired with common hand tools. To date I have replaced the alternator, brake cylinder (just because), clutch cylinder, clutch hydraulic line, rear brake pads, spark plugs, spark plug wires and battery. The battery is only months old; the gel battery runs out quickly if the car isn't driven, which is the real reason I am selling the car. All of the maintenance is done on schedule: The timing belt was changed at 120K miles, the oil every 5K and the transmission (red line) and rear differential every 30K. All four corners have adjustable Koni shocks and nitrogen filled tires with plenty of tread. In the dash you will find a Kenwood KRC-BT752HDC blue tooth stereo with USB and detachable face plate. In the doors are infinity component speakers powered by a 25W amplifier. Front license plate holder is custom made, and an air horn rounds out the package. All in all, a fun ride. The Bad: The paint is 16 years old and shows it. It had scratches on it when I purchased it and has not gotten any better. The worst part is the trunk lid. I was rear ended while sitting the McDonald's drive thru one day, leaving a small dent on the lid. The impact also deformed the rear panel so that now the trunk can only be opened by the release lever inside the car. I am sure a decent body guy can easily pound the panel back in so that key can be used. The windshield wipers are also gone and are completely unusable until they are replaced. The Ugly: The top is in bad shape and needs to be replaced. I used Stormsure to patch it back together and got years more use out of it. That and the lack of rainfall here in N. California allowed me to postpone replacing it. Conditions: Prefer bay area drop off, or can be picked up in Fremont, CA at a public location.
