Vehicle Detail

2010 Toyota Camry LE Automatic transmission. Standard equipment. Grey color. 93,586 miles. Proactively maintained. Car can be taken to a serious buyer anywhere in NYC and LI. Q: How did you come up with the asking price? A: Various car websites provide average private-party appraisals. Dealer prices are about $1300 higher and trade-in $1300 lower. Edmunds: clean condition base 10,549 - color & region $46 - mileage $1175 = $9,328 Kelly Blue Book: very good condition = $9329 Cars.com Black Book: rough to average condition = $8,675-$10,250 Q: Why do you ask for a little more than the average price? A: The car is proactively maintained. All scheduled maintenance had been done on time. Within the last nine months, the following had been done: 4 new tires ($500) brakes and rotors ($300) new front struts (The old ones showed some fluid leaks which is common on the Camry. Although not necessary, they were replaced. $700) Engine air filter Cabin air filter The average appraised value does not reflect the difference between a car that had these maintenance items done recently and a car that will need them soon. Q: Why would you change tires and struts just before selling it? A: I had every intention of driving this car for many years to come, because the car has been trouble-free, has many years left in it, and doesn't depreciate much from this point on. But then again, circumstances changed. Q: How did you accumulate the miles, which is above average? A: Mostly highway miles when I used the car for weekly commutes between New York and Massachusetts. Q: What defects does the car have? A: The front right fender was dented and it was repaired and repainted. The hood was dinged by a trailer hitch, and it was repaired and repainted. The right side doors have a hard-to-see dent, which is not repaired because it was not very visible. One hubcap is not original. (If you really want, you can buy a used Toyota hubcap for about $30 or a set of 4 generic hubcaps for little more.) There are a number of scratches on the bumpers and the body. After all, this is a used car. It does not make sense to repair and repaint every minor scratch. The car will come with touch-up paint. Q: Are you the first owner? A: No. I bought the car in 2012 from a Toyota dealership as a certified pre-owned car with 23,300 miles on it. Q: Is the price negotiable? A: I am happy to hear all reasonable offers. Q: Can you find a comparable? A: This Camry with nearly identical features and mileage in NJ recently sold for $9988 on eBay Motors. However, note the description towards the bottom: "vehicle needs front and rear struts, front and rear brakes and steering rack."
