This is a great car for someone who wants a well sorted Northstar Deville. I purchased this car on ebay 4 month ago for a car enthusiast friend who wanted to own a "classic" Cadillac but doesn't want to deal with the known issues associated with these Northstar cars. I was a mechanic and shop owner of 15 years and we put about 2000 miles on this car and evaluated its drivability and performance and can confidently say that this is a reliable driver with no known issues. It is evident that this car was very well cared for and maintained. The following work was done in the past 3k miles- approx. $5,000 value at retail level. - Engine was removed and completely resealed due to fault cylinderhead gasket. -Cylinderhead gasket was replaced. Cylinderhead bolts were replaced with a updated stud system. - All new seals and gaskets done at the time. - Engine oil pan and covers were resealed - New sparkplugs and sparkplug wire set - New/rebuilt a/c compressor and a/c system was serviced. A/C blows very cold. - Transmission serviced - New radiator - New air filter - Oil was replaced 3 times. - New drive belt General condition: - Engine runs great. Smooth, powerful and gets 28-30mpg on the freeway on long trips. No check engine light. The valve lifters does tick for about 20-30 seconds on cold start but goes away completely ( fairly common symptom for a Northstar and doesn't effect the performance or drivability of the car. Again, the tick goes away completely after 20-30 seconds) - Transmission shifts perfectly cold or warm. Shifts are smooth and positive - Suspension has a nice cushy Cadillac ride. - Brakes well and all brakes are within spec. - Tires still has good tread but are older. We have taken the car on long trips(few hours) and to near triple digit without issues. They are white wall tires. I am cautious with tires and if I were to drive this car across country, I would put new tires on it just because of age. Most people probably wouldn't bother with it. - Paint and body looks great. Body is straight and all the panels are matching. There is evidence that the car was repainted at somepoint but it was done well and shows very well. If you don't look carefully, its hard to tell that its been repainted. -Hood emblem recently broke off and missing. - Interior is in very good condition. Minor/normal wear showing on driver's seat. Rear seat leather is in excellent condition and probably rarely sat in. - If you need the car smogged, I can have it smogged before delivery. - Clean title on hand under our name. - Registration paid until 4-2016 - Car is currently insured. Overall this is a very nice car to cruise in. We have thoroughly enjoyed it and have received many thumb ups from young and old alike.
