Vehicle Detail

I AM RELISTING THIS ITEM - IT HAS BEEN LISTED TWICE AND BOTH TIMES THE HIGH BIDDERS WERE DEADBEATS! IF YOU HAVE NEGATIVE OR ZERO FEEDBACK, DO NOT BID ON THIS VEHICLE, PERIOD! DO NOT EMAIL ME TO TELL ME THAT DEALERS ARE BIDDING ON IT, I DON'T CARE, THE HIGH BIDDER OWNS IT, WHOEVER HE OR SHE IS. PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY, THIS IS A 17-YEAR-OLD CAR WITH 260,000 MILES ON IT, SOLD AS-IS/WHERE-IS, I HAVE NO IDEA IF THE CAR WILL MAKE IT TO DALLAS, MISSISSIPPI OR ANYWHERE ELSE, I AM NOT A PSYCHIC, SO PLEASE DON'T ASK ME THAT. IT STARTS, RUNS AND DRIVES, I WAS DRIVING IT DAILY UNTIL A FEW MONTHS AGO, SINCE THEN IT HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY (I KEEP THE BATTERY CHARGED). LAST TIME I DROVE IT, A FEW WEEKS AGO, IT RAN ROUGH FOR THE FIRST FEW MINUTES THEN SMOOTHED OUT, BUT I MAKE NO GUARANTEES. The time has come for me to part with my beloved 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which I have owned and taken pretty good care of for the last 14 years. Here's the 4-1-1: I bought this car in 2001, she was an ex-rental fleet car with only 30,000 miles on her, so 230,000 of the 260k on the odometer are mine. The engine of this car (4 litre six-cylinder) has never had a single problem, never used or leaked a drop of oil in all that time. Transmission was rebuilt about 40k ago; brakes were done less than 1k ago; radiator was replaced back in '07, alternator in '08; other than some bushings, shocks and various other suspension parts, I haven't had to put much money into her. BUT, this is a car with 260,000 miles on her, so here's all the other stuff you need to know - (1) You'll notice the red passenger front door in the pics, my daughter pulled out in front of someone a couple of years ago, crunched the old door, this is what I came up with to replace it (it's from a '97, I think, you'll notice the plastic panel doesn't match, but it works, no key for that door, though). (2) A/C doesn't work, but the last time I had it checked the compressor tested fine, there is a leak somewhere, it actually did cool the car for a while until the Freon leaked out. (3) Rear lift gate sometimes latches, sometimes doesn't, and the rear window hasn't opened in years. (4) Interior lights (dome lights, map lights, etc.) work, but there was a problem with them staying on when the doors were closed, a switch problem I never could find, so I pulled the fuse, a clever guy with electrical stuff could probably sort it out in an hour. (5) It had an exhaust leak a few months ago, so I did a metal epoxy fix on that, which seems to have worked. (6) Radio works, but I think there is a bad connection in the antenna, as stations fade out before you'd think they would. (7) It's a 17 year old car with 260k on it, she rattles a bit and I would not describe it as a "quiet" car, which it never was even when it was like new. (8) The leather on the steering wheel is worn badly in a couple of spots. (9) The key fob battery has never been replaced, and, yet, it still works, mostly. Won't open the door from across a crowded parking lot, but works. (10) The inside handle for the hood latch broke years ago, have to use pliers, which come included! (11) I haven't driven her in months, and when I did start her up today and ran up the street to get gas, she seemed to idle a bit roughly at first, but smoothed out after a few miles. I have never put a single ignition module or any other kind of electronic parts in this car, so if one of them is on its way out, it wouldn't surprise me. The good things I can say about her are: tires a pretty good; driven the way I drive, I've always managed to get around 20 mpg in town, which is good, I think; new wiper blades on front; receiver hitch with all three popular size balls; new battery within the last year (hardly driven it since I bought it); regular oil changes and maintenance, so air filters, etc. are good; 4-wheel drive mechanism works as well as it ever did. While this vehicle is perfectly suited to driving around town, given her age, I see her ending life as a farm or ranch vehicle - I once pulled a stuck tractor-trailer rig out of the mud with this car, and she's hauled more boats than you can shake a stick at, including half-way across the country (hence the new transmission). NOTE - Just spent some time in the car and here a few other things to note: gas shock for lift gate is pretty much shot; driver's seat has wear and tear you would expect for a car this age; a couple of bad spots on the vinyl on the front door panels; headliner is beginning to come loose on passenger side front.
