Vehicle Detail

For auction a 1993 RX-7, the third generation of the RX-7, (FD3) , featuring an ageless body design. The 13B-REW was the first-ever mass-produced sequential twin-turbocharger system to export from Japan, boosting power to 255 PS (188 kW; 252 hp) in 1993 and finally 280 PS (206 kW; 276 hp) by the time production ended in Japan in 2002. The FD RX-7 was Motor Trend's Import Car of the Year. It also won the Automotive Researchers' and Journalists' Conference Car of the Year award in Japan.Handling in the FD was regarded as world-class, and it is still regarded as being one of the finest handling and the best balanced cars of all time. The continued use of the front-midship engine (it is not considered completely front engine) and drivetrain layout, combined with a 50:50 front-rear weight distribution ratio and low center of gravity, made the FD a very competent car at the limits. When you learn about the details is when you fall in love with this sport car. It has a factory (OEM) aluminum front hood, aluminum suspension linkage, fiberglass reinforced seats (lightweight like racing seats). The first "double bubble" top design as well as the first rounded corner door design. The door outside handle is not in the typical position, it's kind of hidden, and the details go on and on...This is the one in a lifetime opportunity to collect a very low miles FD3, why this car is collectible? I could start with the exciting rotary engine that expert tuners can extract 500hp without even opening the engine and we don't know when Mazda will stop making rotary engines, but this was the last rotary twin turbo design for sure. If you are looking for collecting a car or you are car to prepare for auto shows with the huge aftermarket parts in the market, sponsors and tuners available that the sky is the limit. This particular FD3 is not just a rare car, it is more collectible because this base model, Mazda made only 72 each, making it even more rare than the "R1" version. The R1 version came only in mica yellow, red and black colors. This model is similar to the lighter weight R1 because it has two oil coolers and it didn't come with the rear wiper, rear bose (heavy) speaker and sunroof. The rotary enthusiasts know better the details of the R1 but the rarest color of the R1 was mica yellow and Mazda made 350 of those. I got another Mazda RX-7 which I am installing a wide body kit, so I don't need this one. I actually don't have the time or space for this one because I just bought a Porsche 930 which is as rare as this RX-7.Selling under retail price!! The NADA high retail price is $20,100. I am including in this auction the two bumper covers (front and rear) which are scratched but they can be repaired and repainted. I am also including the stock intercooler, air filter box and plastic that go in the engine bay, so you could go back to stock OEM "mode" if you want to. Everything original OEM. The radiator is the thicker polished all aluminum racing aftermarket to make this car more reliable and run cooler (picture included of intercooler disconnected from bracket so you can see the radiator). On top of that the radiator hoses were replaced by blue silicone 3-Ply Nylon high performance and the thermostat was replaced with a temperature switch. The intercooler installed in the car is a front mount polished aluminum (which looks mean!!), the air filters are high flow aftermarket with carbon fiber finish, other than that the car is stock. The car has also aftermarket LED tail lights but I am including the stock tail lights as well. It has the 99 spec front bumper signal lights but I don't have the original front bumper lights on the passenger side. only on the driver side. Those parts cost thousands of dollars and they are hard to find! Solid body... No rust! These cars are going for over $25,000 in ebay with even with more miles than this one!! The price of the RX-7 is increasing by the minute!! This is a good investment so you could sell this beauty even higher price in the future and make money. The car looks, sounds and feels like a 53k miles car. The power windows, cruise control and everything else work like they are supposed to. It runs straight like a railcar. The most impressive parts of this particular car is the interiors. The people who own FD3's know that is very hard top find one with the plastics in the doors and center console intact (without cracks). This one has pretty nice interiors, and the leather is not ripped on the seats. I will try to posted pictures of the bumpers and engine intake plastic ;) . The body kit has been trimmed and fitted but not painted. The side skirts needs more work and they are installed only with a couple of screws. The bad: The pop up lights need more work, the driver side is not going up/down and I don't know why ... it should be an easy wiring or fuse issue and it has a spider crack on the lower corner. I got the fixed slick carbon fiber headlights in my other RX-7 (looks better, I would do the same to this one). The car is sold AS IS in Houston, TX. It is offered locally for sale, so I reserve the right to stop the auction if the buyer reaches my asking price locally. You are welcome to test drive the car. The engine has good compression and the transmission shifts like it should do, (no slipping or kicking). See pics of tachometer (RPM) with engine running...no check engine light. The shipping is not included, you need to get your own transport company, I could help in the loading stage to take videos and pics. The car has no registration sticker. Title in hand. Price reduced !! Good Luck!! Happy Bidding!! On Jul-07-15 at 19:11:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Maybe today is your lucky day... not mine! I was warming up the car today to get it ready for inspection and the car started to smoke in the muffler. I don't know what is the problem but I guess I should have driven the car more often. My best guess is a gasket leaking. I'm sure is not an apex seal broken. I have had FD3's for about 15 years and I know exactly how a broken apex seal feels like! I was not driving this car at all, only for moving it out of the garage or driveway in my house or when it went to a shop. I am honest and can't sell the car for the $15,500 that I wanted or for the reserve that I had of $12,500. I will lower the reserve to $8,000 to sell it AS IS. The extra parts I was including I won't include no more for this liquidation price unless you go $1,000 over the reserve price. If the guys bidding earlier decide to retract the bids I will understand but you have not reached the reserve price anyways. Sorry for the inconvenient. My loss will be your gain. You can get a used engine from $2,000 to $2,700, or you can even swap to a 3-rotor 20B engine, re-sell the car and make money. I just don't have the time to mess with it right now. The car is still running smoothly without detonations but I don't know how far you could go and it takes longer to start it. At least the engine has the same strength and you could load it and unload it from any trailer or transport truck.
