DESCRIPTION: This NO RESERVE auction is for a low mileage 1999 DODGE RAM VAN 1500 conversion van that has been well maintained and happens to run great. That's the good news. The bad news is that the frame on this truck has failed due to advanced rusting and the vehicle was deemed "NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE" by a New York State motor vehicle inspection station. There was no failed state inspection, just an alert that it would no longer pass. Just to illustrate, where the right side of the front stabilizer bar attaches to the frame, there is no metal left to attach it too. As such, we are selling this vehicle for "PARTS ONLY". We know that the complete engine long block was replaced by a local Dodge dealer a few years ago, at great expense to the owner, and it probably has less than 20,000 miles on it. At that time the radiator, complete exhaust system and numerous other parts were also replaced. The transmission was recently serviced as well. The owner had removed the rear conversion bed and captains chairs because he was using the van for moving light furniture. The loose seats and bed come with the van including all of the hardware. The jack, tools and spare tire are all intact. There is also a recently installed (by U-Haul) heavy duty trailer hitch assembly. It was wired up to the dashboard for a Tekonsha Prodigy control, which was removed and put into the replacement vehicle. The headlights are new, the remote mirrors both work as do the power windows and door locks. The bumpers, sheet metal parts, grille and other bolt on ground effects are all in fair to good condition. The factory chrome steel wheels and center caps are fine and the brakes were recently serviced. Even the dashboard and console are nice. The truck has no other real issues except for some minor body rust by one of the ground effect running boards and some minor scrapes and dings and cracks. The A/C blows ice cold and all of the electrics are perfect. If you have a good foundation and need a donor van, this is ideal. The 5.2 Liter V-8 (318 CID) engine and transmission are great. There are two keys and one remote door opener as well as the original owner's manual and other books. This truck can be driven, but only for very short distances to aid with trailer loading if needed. It runs smoothly hitting on all cylinders, shifts properly and comes to a straight halt when brake pedal pressure is applied. It fires right up and there is no smoke, noises, leaks or other gremlins as it warms up nicely and settles right into a comfortable idle. It is a darn shame that the frame gave up the ghost because the rest of the truck is nice. We can't overstate that this Dodge Ram Van 1500 is NOT ROADWORTHY and will take lots of work and money to correct the rust condition issues. Please bid accordingly.
