OPTIONS/EQUIPMENT If you believe in the value in "buying the best you can afford", you will recognize this STS as prime example of fantastic quality engineering, design, and manufacture, PLUS an incredible equipment/options list, PLUS exemplary maintenance/upkeep history. That is all wrapped up in a stylish but practical, luxurious but high-performance Cadillac STS with the legendary NorthStar V8 (last year of that incredible engine), so please take the time to read and study this accurate description and the detailed, HD photographs of this one of a kind, White Diamond Tri-Coat over Cashmere leather Cadillac STS. For starters, just try to find an STS with the optional Cadillac V8 Performance Package ($12,440 list-price). While we may not know how many STS cars were built with that expensive and inclusive option, at such an additional price you KNOW there were precious few built. According to this car's specific Cadillac build sheet (which I will happily email upon request), this car's topline option package included: Heated/Ventilated Front Seats AM/FMStereo, 6 Disc CD Changer BOSE 5.1 Studio Surround Sound SystemDVD Navigation System Auto Dimming Inside Rearview Mirror High Intensity Discharge Headlamps with WasherIntellibeam High Beam Control 18" Polished Aluminum Wheels W-Rated Michelin Tires, front & rear Touring/Performance Magnetic Ride Control Rear Spoiler, Functional Limited Slip Rear Differential, 3.23 PerformanceAntiLock Brake System 4 Wheel Performance Disc Brakes Performance Cooling PackagePremium ZF (German) Steering Gear Head Up Display (HUD), Four Color Side Blind Zone AlertLane Departure Warning Adaptive Cruise Control (automatically slows/stops) Compact Spare Tire (New and Unused)Power Moonroof: Raises in Back for ventilation or Retracts fully. Includes sliding sunscreen that matches headliner The foregoing V8 Performance Package, plus the $995 White Diamond Tri-Coat paint, created an STS with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $70,620 as it drove off of the assembly line. But this STS was not just the standard bill-of-fare to be placed on some dealer's stock/floor plan somewhere. Imstead, this was built according to the desires of one of GM's factory representatives, who specified even more options and dress-up than most of us will ever see on any STS: Upgraded 18" Rims with Chromium plating $1,495Hyper Optic Window Tint, Side & Rear 695Cadillac Wreath & Crest on Sailpanels 369----------------------------------------------------------------------Total Special Options $2,559 So the total MSRP finally ended at $73,179 But this STS has even more to its pedigree, adding to its desirability and practicality:The present owner, admiring its doors and the absence of parking lot dings, purchased and had installed custom door side protective moldings. Their paint matches the White Diamond Tri-Coat and they continue to perform just as intended. A minimum number of small nicks, dings, or scratches may be present on the car somewhere, but they are most difficult to find and most unobtrusive on this unusual example. The present owner also purchased and had a K&N high performance air filter installed for both better performance and fuel economy. These are warranted by K&N for 1 Million miles and are not the run-of-the-mill, throw-away technology. They are easily "recharged" when necessary (depending on conditions) and are used and reused without losing their efficiency or performance gains. Research reminded the present owner that the STS of this vintage was the quietest automobile ever built by Cadillac. It remains exceedingly quiet as speeds rise, which might lead to the risk of a speeding ticket. So a Valentine One Radar/Laser Detector was custom installed by the authorized Cadillac service department, complete with the Valentine Concealed Display (which is mounted down in the dashboard where other drivers and police cannot see any of the warnings which keep the STS driver informed.) It is correctly wired so that the Valentine One and Display both turn off with the ignition, then resume protecting the driver when the STS is started again. Please do not jump to the wrong conclusion, however: this STS was never treated as a hot rod, as confirmed by it still wearing its factory tires. Its next owner may decide to replace them at some point, but will have the choice of which tire brand and model to select for his or her driving style and environment. Please note: if the winning bidder does not want the Valentine One Radar Detector system, the Seller will have it professionally removed from the car (returning the car to its factory, original configuration) and rebate $150 off the winning bid price. Finally, many will consider the last upgrade to be yet another game-changer for this unique STS: It has an iSimple ISGM574 iPhone iPod Aux Adapter, which was installed by a professional electronics/IT company here in Abilene, Texas. The local Cadillac service manager confirmed its desirability when he explained to me that when these cars were being sold new, many customers would bring them back to him for assistance in connecting their Apple or Android smartphones or iPads or Tablets to the incredible BOSE Surround Sound System. He was saddened to explain to them that such a feature had been somehow overlooked or omitted in the design and development of this rear-wheel drive STS generation. Even worse, at that time there was no reasonably priced, simple and non-invasive means of connecting such devices - which is exactly what so many STS drivers wanted to do. But by now, the iSimple Adapter is relatively easy to install (by a professional) and operate (by the driver/passenger) AND it is non-invasive. No factory wiring is cut or removed and the factory OEM BOSE Theater Surround System and all of its components remain and fully functional. The iSimple simply plugs into the Bose system in the instrument panel and routes through to the console, where the driver or front passenger can easily access its capabilities. Once installed, the STS/iSimple combination is basically state-of-the-art: It will not only play podcasts, iTunes music, or other Apple device output through the BOSE system, but will also continuously charge the device so its battery does not run down through use in the STS. The Aux Adapter will also accept most any other electronic device's output, including Androids or Microsoft smartphones, as I understand it. The connection cords ride unobtrusively in the center console but are also long enough to allow your electronic device of choice to be place virtually anywhere in the front seating area. MAINTENANCE AND UPKEEP The present owner has a file full of maintenance records going back to April, 2012 when the car was purchased from Lund Cadillac in Phoenix, Arizona. The car was still under the original factory Cadillac warranty at the time and the car was treated to the best of maintenance at Cadillac dealers and other top-notch automobile service dealers as needed. It has always enjoyed Mobil 1 Extended Performance motor oil. Everything that needed attention was promptly serviced. The present owner will also have this STS serviced at the local Cadillac dealership before the purchaser takes delivery, including an oil & filter change and the use of Mobil 1 Extended Performance motor oil. The oil life indicator presently shows 39% left since the last service. This STS has been protected from exposure to Summer Sun and Winter bad weather, as it has been parked in a garage at its owner's home and in a covered garage on the days it was driven to work. Other vehicles, including a pick-up truck, were driven on bad weather days (most unusual in drought-stricken West Texas for several years) so it has been pampered. ___________________________________________________________________________________________The owner recently added a 36 month/36,000 General Motors Protection Plan warranty to cover the cost of virtually anything going wrong for that period of miles and time. The Cadillac dealership where it was purchased described it as the same as the original factory warranty - except for requiring a $50 deductible payment whenever it is serviced under the GMPP. But if minor problems should arise, there is only ONE $50 deductible charged, no matter how many issues need repair on a given visit. If the new owner desires to keep that policy in force, it will require approximately 16 months of $129.00 payments. The GMPP also covers trip interruption expenses, provides towing to a dealership in case of breakdown, and a no-charge rental car should repairs require the car remain at the shop overnight. If the new owner does not see the GMPP as a wise insurance policy and does not want to pay the premiums, the policy will lapse. OR: The new purchaser may opt instead for a different long-term extended vehicle warranty at $82.99/month for as long as desired. Its deductible is $100 per visit and it is effective at any authorized auto service facility (not just GM dealerships/service departments).
