Vehicle Detail
1982 Volkswagon Westfalia Well maintained air-cooled engine. Engine was rebuilt by J's VW in Reno (June 2013). I am just the second owner of this fine vehicle. First owner was extremely O.C.D. in regards to taking care of him. I too have maintained a high level of integrity keeping him running well and taken care of. I've only used him in the warmer months, and have kept him garaged during the winters. He has spent his entire life in Nevada, a very dry climate. No signs anywhere of rust. I've only put high-octane fuel in his tank and a few of the other little things to keep him running strong and looking good. Only approximately 12,000 miles on a fully rebuilt engine, (119,xxx) on odometer. Showing him every now and then, plus driving him every now and then just to keep him loose and in shape.Miles aren't too high, but consider he was never used as an everyday vehicle. Those miles are all very long highway miles. I have service records going back to 2000. First owner tossed the first 18 years of service records (taking up too much room in glove box). For those of you familiar with these vans, he doesn't go too fast, but I am able to get him up to a whopping 70 mph on flat road.New brakes installed (March 2015).Top of the line speakers installed in front doors (May 2014).Refrigerator and stove each work (propane).Lots of interior storage space.Yakima racks as well as the box and gate rack come with him. I usually just keep my camping gear in the box and the gate rack loaded with firewood, so when the weekends come, I'm good to go. Pop-top is original and in good condition (no tears or leaks). As you can see, he is very clean. Interior is all original and in very good shape. Smells real nice inside! He's been a real good buddy. I'm hoping to see him go to a good home, to someone friendly or a nice family who will truly appreciate him and continue taking him on many adventures. Cons:I disconnected the heater a couple years ago because warm air was constantly blowing out the vents. I never got around to fixing it or adding some sort of a conversion kit, mainly because I only drive him during the warmer seasons. Paint still looks great, but there are a few scratches and small dents, not a huge deal. First owner went through some road being sealed, so theres a few marks of asphalt on the side sliding door near the bottom. Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions. I check my email about once an hour and also have no problem giving you a call. I'm actually better over the phone and in person than utilizing this whole eBay mumbo jumbo. Thanks for checking out my van!
