Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1971 Porsche914 Targa. This is a barn find car that was owned by the previous owner in South Georgia since 1977. It was driven regularly, then given to the son to use while he attended college at the University of Pennsylvania. After he graduated in the early ‘90s, the car was parked in the parents garage in South Georgia again and has remained there until I bought it about 6 months ago. It has not been started or driven since about 1995. The original color was yellow with black interior. It was painted its current black sometime in the ‘80s. This car came with factory air conditioning. Everything for the A/C system still seems to be there except for the compressor. The engine is thought to be the original one that came with the car from the factory. In the late ‘80s, the original fuel injection was replaced by a pair of Weber carbs by the local VW/Porsche repair shop. This is apparently something that was frequently done with these cars because of the unreliability of the fuel injection system. Since this car has spent nearly its entire existence in South Georgia, rust is not much of an issue. The rockers are fairly rusty, but since they are held on with screws rather than being welded on, replacing them will be simple. The floors, fender wells, and both trunks are in very good condition, rust-wise, with only a few small holes. There will be no need for any repair panels for these areas, just some minor patchwork. I don’t know if the engine will turn over as I haven’t tried to do so. You should plan on doing an engine rebuild as it’s fairly cheap to do on this car anyway. I expect payment within 5 days of the end of the auction. The car can be picked up after your check has cleared my bank. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I can give the name of a good, reliable shipper if you wish. Buyer will be given a Bill of Sale and the Georgia Title for the car. If you have any questions, you can use the “Ask Seller A Question” box, or call me at (912) 222-5771 between 9 AM and 9 PM, Eastern time. On May-21-15 at 08:05:17 PDT, seller added the following information: PLEASE NOTE! If you are located in a country outside the USA and are the winning bidder, full payment for the car will need to be via Paypal only and within 48 hours of the end of the auction. If you can't meet these terms, please don't bid. Thank you.
