Vehicle Detail
Stunning 1935 FORD Black Survivor 5 Window Coupe, this was sitting in a San Francisco warehouse and owned by one family for many many years. It was brought up to Oregon by a friend of the family's estate a few years ago and has been garaged since. PAINT & BODY The paint was done approximately 45 years ago. It shines up well and is extremely nice for a survivor car. There are light scratches, rub marks, etc in the paint. There is no indication of any bodywork, patch panels, or rust repair done anywhere. There are the lead filing marks above the doors and at the upper corner and a rust hole less than a 1/4 inch in diameter where the front of the rear drivers fender attaches to running board. The sheetmetal on this car is in unbelievable shape. The floor pans and trunk pan is perfect, the area in front of the rear bumper brackets isn't buckled. It is solid. The doors open and close well. I replaced the gaskets for the cowl vent and trunk. NOTE, I have the spare mount setup with the locking band and key as well as the stock light mount, they are included with the sale. The grill shell is not bent up at the bottom like so many 35/36's are. Bumpers are nice. INTERIOR The inside was redone about 5 years ago in a stock style. It is clean and nice, the floor rubber pad was replaced but still has the factory firewall pad. The glass is in good shape but the chrome around the windscreen is flaking. The speedo, odometer, water temp and oil pressure gauge work but gas gauge and radio do not. I installed a new regulator mechanism for the crank out windscreen and the channel kit for the roll down rear window. The stock ignition / steering wheel lock and key setup work. DRIVETRAIN The engine is a 1940 Flathead. It runs very well, pulls hard, and starts everytime with ease. It doesn't smoke. The engine oil as well as the trans and rear end gear lube was changed. Radiator was flushed and new hoses added. It has headers and dual exhaust thru Smithy's glass packs. It is not loud, but does have the distinct flathead sound. Transmission looks to be stock 35 box. It pops out of 2nd on deceleration more often than not. It does not run hot. The clutch action and the hydraulic brakes are superb. Steering has a little play, nothing over the top, just a few inches of play in the wheel. It does not wander all over the road though and it stops nice and straight without pulling. E brake works perfect. The tires are new Firestone Deluxe Champion 750's in the rear and 600's in the front riding on freshly powdercoated original early Ford 16" steel wheels with original '40 deluxe caps. The front has an original Ford axle that was dropped way back when. I have put a few hundred miles on the car around town, on county back roads, and including 75 miles on the Interstate. The car is great, looks wonderful and is ready to go. You can't fake the genuine patina this car has and it is truly a once in every 15-20 years kind of a find. This Prewar Ford stands on its own and would be wonderful in anyones collection. ---- The car is Title and Registered in my name, the VIN number is clearly visible and matches the title like it should. If it sells out of state I plan on keeping the license plates.---- I will sell overseas. I can accomodate storing the car inside, securely, for a couple weeks as shipping, if necessary is dealt with. ---- Paypal deposit of $1000 due within 24 hours of auctions ending, balance to be paid by wire transfer within 3 days of auctions end.---- I have described the car truthfully and accurately and welcome and inspection but feel free to call me with any questions or if you want additional pictures.---- The car was for sale locally by me and if it sells well before the auctions ending time I will close the auction.---- Please don't bid unless you intend to buy, if you have bad feedback or no feedback please contact me before bidding. Thank you for looking, Joe 541-729-1141Springfield, Oregon 97477 On May-20-15 at 14:15:50 PDT, seller added the following information: EDIT the car is 12 volts & the pics were taken just a few days ago other than the engine pic which was a couple weeks ago prior to the new radiator hoses being done.On May-21-15 at 07:04:57 PDT, seller added the following information: The lead filing marks are on the roof section above the doors were the factory seams are. The ones in the corners I mentioned are on the rear of the body up by the corners of the trunk opening, again both factory. All four seams are slightly noticeable but not to confused with bad bodywork. The spare tire / wheel is included with the spare tire mounting parts I mentioned above. The locking setup has the piece that looks like a solid hubcap yet it houses the lock core. I have pictures if anyone is interested.
