Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE 1963 Scout 80 4x4 original no-rust survivor! This is an amazing two-owner time capsule survivor 1963 International Scout 80 4x4. All original, low miles (70,975 miles), and completely unmolested, this Scout 80 still wears its original paint and two-tone interior upholstery, as well as its stock 4-cylinder manual transmission drivetrain. As you can see, it is in amazing condition, and has zero rust issues; none. It has been garaged or otherwise kept out of the weather its entire life and has spent the past 35 years in long-term weathertight storage inside a shipping/storage container. The previous owner was a 93-year-0ld IH fanatic, and drove it on his acreage before placing it in long-term storage. It is currently a light project, needing a few things finished before it becomes your weekend warrior. The body is in extremely nice condition, with only a couple of minor dings/dents. With original paint throughout, you can see the beautiful rust-free condition of the floors, rockers, fenders, doors, quarter panels, etc.. The paint is a very pretty light green metallic, with contrasting white removable top and bumpers. The two-tone paint on the interior is original and looks absolutely fantastic. The patina (or paint wear) is light, even, and consistent, and in my opinion adds to the character and beauty of the rig. The drivetrain is completely original, including the 152 cubic inch four cylinder engine, floor-shifted manual transmission, transfer case, and Spicer Power-Lok front and rear axles. Prior to being place into storage, the engine went through a complete overhaul, including new rings, bearings, gaskets, oil pump, timing set, and gaskets. The cylinder head was also rebuilt for unleaded fuel at that time. Underhood, it still has still has it's original oil bath air cleaner, heater box, and other components. It has two brand-new IH factory NOS fuel tanks installed, and the ignition system was also tuned up just prior to it being parked. All five steel wheels are the originals, with original polished wheel covers, also in great condition. The tires are original period-correct "pie crust" mud-and-snow all weather tires, and are still in great condition, having been out of the sun and weather this entire time. The grill is perfect, as is all the glass. Factory options include bucket seats, the rear-mounted spare tire, front bumper-mounted spotlight, Spicer Power-Lok front and rear axles, and the original AM radio. The black and ivory two-tone vinyl interior upholstery is in beautiful condition, with only one minor seam split on the passenger seat... threads only, no vinyl damage, and very small. As you can see, the interior is simply outstanding. It comes with all its' original green seat belts, in very nice condition. All the factory operating decals remain in place on the dash, and the gauges are not sun-faded at all... the dash is gorgeous. The steering wheel is also in wonderful condition, without fading or cracks. It even has its' original rubber front floor mats in great condition! This is a one of a kind, original survivor Scout 80, and probably one of the cleanest unrestored early Scouts still in existence. The paint is shiny and attractive, with only the minor surface rust you see on the top. There is one small dent on the rear corner as shown in the photos, and a few scratches. Now for the "project" part: The previous owner removed both fuel tanks, and bought two new-old-stock (NOS) tanks to replace them (installed). He removed the one-barrel carb to have it rebuilt, and never reinstalled it (manifold is taped over carb inlet; carb is NOT present, but the original oil bath air cleaner and mount are both present). The clutch master cylinder is removed, and needs to be rebuilt (rebuild kit included). It needs to have the fuel tanks connected, carb purchased and installed, a new battery purchased and installed, and then the minor start-up work, including setting ignition timing, adjusting the carb, etc. To be clear, the engine turns smoothly and freely by hand; is freshly overhauled (under 2k miles since done) and ready to be finished out. The brakes seem sound, as does the steering. The electrical system is factory original and untouched. A weekend's work and a few hundred dollars in parts will get you on the road. I own a classic automobile restoration shop, and had planned to finish this one out, but I'd be asking a couple grand more if it were turnkey. This is a great opportunity for someone with rudimentary mechanical skills to have one of the nicest original early Scouts in existence. I don't think the top has ever been off of this one! I am personally acquainted the previous owner, (a 93-year-old farmer), and the history of the Scout is documented. He is a solid-gold man who took exceptional care of all his possessions... a quality generally true of all older farmers and ranchers. I would finish it out for you (if purchased at the buy-it-now price) for $75.00 per hour, plus parts, if you want to own it but can't do the work yourself. You may call me at 360-936-9257 with any questions you have. Clear title in hand, matches VIN exactly for inspection, export, etc. Please be prepared to pay in full within 3 days of auction's end via deposit into my Bank of America account, bank-to-bank wire transfer, cash, or major bank cashier's check (must wait until check clears issuing bank prior to releasing vehicle and/or title). Shipping is the full responsibility of the buyer. I will make myself available for loading on short notice. While every effort is being made to describe the Scout as precisely as possible, it is in fact a 52-year old classic, and therefore being sold as-is, without warranty or guarantee written, expressed, or implied. Please, no zero-feedback buyers/bidders without contacting me prior.
