Vehicle Detail

1962 FORD FALCON COUNTRY SQUIRE WOODY WAGON This is a clean old wagon that was owned by the original "little old lady" from 1962 until 1997. I have a copy of the original title issued in '62. It was sold to the second owner in 1997 and sat in a barn until I purchased it this year. The car is very original and unmolested. Original hubcaps and 13" wheels with original spare and jack. The engine runs nice but needs a little work before being a driver. It doesn't need much and it is detailed below The body is really nice for an unrestored car, and only has one spot of rust. The car looks good enough to drive it as-is, or it's and easy one to restore. The odometer says 7k miles. I'm guessing it's probably 107k. Highly doubtful that it's more than that though, just from looking at the condition of the car. For those of you who don't already know, this is a "faux" woody. The woodgrain on the sides is not real wood, but a wood decal. Reproduction woodgrain is probably produced but there are a variety of ways to re-do the wood, including airbrushing it on. I can get you information on the options if you'd like. Here are the details. I have 65 pictures of this I can send also. Ebay only allows a certain amount. Feel free to ask questions and I can talk via phone if you prefer. Thanks and happy bidding. MECHANICAL This car has the original 170 "special six". The transmission is a manual three-speed on the tree (steering column). The motor runs very nice but needs a little work to be a driver. What it needs: Fuel pump(readily available), exhaust system, fuel tank pickup tube cleaned and possibly tank cleaned. It's common for the tubes to plug when old gas sits in them. I've fixed them before and drained the tank without actually having to replace or professionally clean the tank. Sometimes they are fine if you just drain and rinse with clean fuel. The carb may need rebuilt. It runs nice and the choke works, but leaked when I first got it running. It then stopped leaking so? I would rebuild it if you plan on running much. The brakes work but need bled at least. May need some adjusting but I didn't drive it fast enough to tell. Transmission gears all work fine. Clutch works good. Two tires are radials and good. The other two are not good bias ply's. Rear window is electric and the motor does not work. This is common for these cars, and could just be the ground. I'm not sure. Replacment motors may be available if that's the problem, but an electrical motor guy can usually fix them anyways. The glass is fine. Overall, it will take a little work to get it to be a daily driver but it needs no major mechanical work. The engine runs smooth and isn't as smoker. No major leaks. It's obvious from the condition of the car in general, that it was never abused. BODY The body is nice for an un-restored '62. It's definitely presentable as-is, but would be easy for a bodyman to prep and paint. It only has one spot of rust. It's has a rust spot on the drivers side rear quarter, behind the wheel. You can see this in the pics. This is the only exterior rust on the car. There is no rust behind the passenger rear wheel. The floorpans are nice and solid. You can see in the pics that the rest of the body is pretty nice. There are a couple tiny dings. At least one piece of the trim that separates the woodgrain from the paint, is broken. The old lady that owned it, painted that fiberglass trim with a brush at some point. Again, she only painted the trim that separates the woodgrain, from the white paint. The paint on the body/metal has never been painted. This car overall is very solid and dry. No sign of any collision damage ever and no bondo. Windshield has a couple small chips but is very usable. Drivers door glass is cracked. Rear window does not rolled up. I can seal it for transport. INTERIOR The interior is not perfect, but in good/ok shape. It is usable for a driver, but needs a carpet. The front seat has the usual wear/damage on the drivers side. The rear seat is pretty nice. The door panels are pretty nice and definitely usable. Headliner is nice. Dash is nice. Gauge area is nice and steering wheel looks pretty good too. Cargo area in good shape. Overall, it would be great for a driver with a carpet, and maybe the drivers seat repaired. This old wagon is sold as-is. Feel free to ask questions. It's the falcon squire, the smaller version of the country squire. Thanks.
