Vehicle Detail

1978 International Scout V8 4x4 Convertible Survivor Very rare, highly optioned, Scout up for auction. These Scouts, this clean, rarely come up for sale. The Scout was the only produced between 1976 and 1980 and was the only International model to win the prestigious 4x4 of the year award. Not only are the very stable on the trail but the top comes off and makes one of the coolest convertible trucks around. This is a very nice, original, one owner. I've been hunting for one for years and they are difficult to find that are not totally rusted out. The Scout has been painted in 1989 and in storage since 1992 and it’s in unbelievable condition. I purchased from an Estate sale of the original owner who had passed away. I have the original owner’s manual and even have a journal that was kept with oil changes and misc. maintenance records. I also have the Service manual for it which also has original notes in it…it’s all very cool and you just never see vintage stuff like this anymore. It has its original 345 with the very desirable square bore manifold. The Holley 2bbl carb was just rebuilt and it runs perfect. New valve cover gaskets, Battery, trans gasket and filter, belts, hoses, master cylinder, gas sending unit and tune up. Power brakes & power steering are in great condition. It starts up every time without effort! Does not smoke and you can hardly hear it run because it's so quiet but it does have nice dual exhaust. The odometer shows 62500. All mechanicals/gauges/lights work great (including the fuel gauge…bonus). The body is in excellent condition without any damage or evidence of ever being in a wreck. No rust ever in its life. At Stock height with nice tires and nice original hubcaps. The green plaid interior is in great shape. The front seats are original and matches the original rear bench. Side sliding glass on the topper and the convertible hardtop has never been off! The chrome is in perfect shape all away around. The super tuff and desirable Dana's work great with no issues when in 4 wheel drive. The Scout is very road worthy and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. I drive it to every cruise night and car show I can. Clear title in hand. Hate to sell and would love to keep but being without a job forces sale. Bid with confidence and do your research…this is a great investment and fairly priced. They’re only old and original once...! This scout has been in storage since 1992 and almost $2500 (I have receipts) has been spent to make as good and reliable as the day it was new. Reserve is thousands less than the buy it now.Vehicle located NW suburbs of Chicago and is available to seen and for test drives. For sale Locally and I reserve the right to end auction early On May-09-15 at 11:11:28 PDT, seller added the following information: It has been brought to my attention that the year is listed in different areas and different years and it CANNOT be changed once bids have been placed... I apologize.... the correct year is 1976
