Vehicle Detail

For your consideration - my 1989 Porsche 928 S4 in overall excellent condition. Has receipts/service records from me and previous owner. Low production year with fresh 1990 928 motor, and cams, but very recently the motor has seized while driving. Testing has shown a thrust bearing failure as the possible suspect, but the engine will need to be dissembled to confirm. This is the kind of vehicle that needs another knowledgeable 928 enthusiast or competent mechanic who's willing to take on the task. For that person who has the experience, time, and patience, this is just another repair. If it doesn't sell, I will eventually get around to repairing it. Bear in mind, running late model 928S4s (1989-and above) are becoming increasingly hard to find and are going up in value. Original motor was damaged while installing the supercharger, so a replacement motor was sourced and freshened up while out with a variety of new parts (including 4 cams ground to original factory specs), thinking of long term reliability, but sadly, it didn't work out that way. After ~700 miles since the new motor was installed (and about 1 year ago), it froze. Expensive project that I can no longer focus on. This is not a chop-shop project. The car has great pedigree, and documented history. It will be difficult to find another 928S4 this clean at my reserve price. If you are looking for an expensive-looking car for a relatively low buy-in price, you've come to the right place. Paint is original, and although showing signs of its age, it still looks quite clean externally. The interior is excellent (one of the nicest interiors I have seen on a 928). The front and rear bumpers have chips and other imperfections, and should be repainted. 141k miles on chassis (approximately 91K on motor I was told when it was purchased). Although it is a 26 year old car, it shows well for its age. Also note that this is the year which featured the highly sought after shorter 2.72 ring and pinion as stock, as opposed to the 2.20 rear end from previous S4 cars so it's a low-end, mid-range screamer. You'll lose a little at the top end, but where can you go 170+ MPH anyway (top speed for 89 model year is typically rated at ~165MPH)? Well maintained, and has a clean carfax (provided with sale of vehicle). This car is being offered in non-running condition, and assume that the motor will need engine service (at least a thrust bearing replacement) or possible replacement (used motors are relatively reasonable). The supercharger kit, large injectors, accompanying plumbing, and sharktuner ECU chips have been removed and sold. Vehicle will come with original injectors, but MAY need to have the original ignition EPROM replaced (damaged when removed from the ECU - one of the legs broke off). The LH eprom is OK. Contact for more information.... This is your chance to own a late model 928 that looks expensive and carries presence like a GTS for a fraction of the GTS price. Have thousands in receipts. A few highlights: fresh cams (reground to original factory specs) New knock sensors New timing belt, new aluminum pulleys, Laso waterpump, Gates timing Belt, and PORKEN TENSIONER (huge upgrade)!!! - self adjusting! Engine resealed (pan gasket, complete intake, and valve cover gaskets) Intake and valve covers professionally powder coated $$$ Power steering hoses replaced Motor is seized and will need to be removed and inspected Automatic transmission shifts smoothly New MAF New knock sensors Heater controls work Headliner is in great condition New Crank Position Sensor New oil pump gaskets Windows work Sunroof works AC blows cold, but forgot to put on the belt during engine installation, so needs to have belt put back on to use - that can be done after the engine is removed, repaired, and re-installed New y rated (168+MPH) tires (approx 1.5k miles on them) Black exterior with black interior GTS bumper and badge -- looks like a GTS Clean title in hand! ******IF YOU HAVE LESS THAN 5 FEEDBACK, PLEASE CONTACT ME PRIOR TO BIDDING********** ******THIS CAR IS BEING SOLD AS IS/WHERE IS, SO IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE VEHICLE, PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO ASK PRIOR TO BIDDING. I HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR NEARLY FOUR YEARS, AND KNOW IT (AND THE 928 IN GENERAL) PRETTY WELL.*************
