1951 Ford F-5 Truck with 12-Foot Dump Bed This truck is a 1951 Ford F-5 which we bought from a friend who was selling his farm.  The truck was barn-stored from 1988 to 2013. The dump bed is a 12-foot flatbed with removable sides, powered with PTO-driven hydraulic pump.  The dump action is fully functional. It has a single speed rear axle, 4-speed manual, with the 239 Flathead V8.  The previous owner told us this is replacement engine installed sometime in the 1970s. In the two years we've owned this truck, we've performed the following upgrades and maintenance: rebuilt the carbeurator added an electric fuel pump with pressure regulator replaced the fuel tank and sending unit (both new from LMC) new master cylinder new brake lines converted the charging system to a 12-volt negative ground using a GM-style 1-wire alternator replaced all underhood and cab wiring, as the original cloth-insulated wiring kept grounding and shorting out rebuilt radiator Sale includes a clean Kansas title, original Operator's Manual, and Ford Truck Parts & Accessories book. This is a 64-year-old truck and does show normal wear & tear and signs of age. The brake booster has recently gone bad. Some of the glass is showing its age. The tires have great tread left, but are old and weathered. The left rear outer tire is losing a little air. The driver's side floor board has been patched, and the passenger side has a few small rust holes. (See third-to-last picture.) There is rust trying to pop out at the fender seams (typical for Ford truck of this year). (See last two pictures.) Overall, this old truck runs good, but isn't fast.  The dump bed works great and is useful. Rebuilding and upgrading this old truck was a father-and-son project.  We are a little sorry to see her go, but other projects are waiting!
